Russian SU-24 shot down by a Turkish F-16. Turkey's despot President has been itching for this.

The Russians must have agreed overflight rights with Iran, as they've been hitting Syria from bombers based in the south Caucasus and also firing cruise missiles from ships in the Caspian Sea.

You would think that Turkey would have more interest in the Russians ridding ISIS from their border than a slight infringement into their airspace, oh hang on...

Turkish Police discovered an arms shipment heading for ISIS. Medals all around. No. Erdogan, Turkey's lovely Predident, ordered the arrest of all the Judges and Police Officers involved. The man is the Dictator in the region and the West just sit back and watch

Erdogan is an unpleasant fellow, but he won an election. The election was far from perfect, but it was a lot cleaner than the sham process that purportedly gives legitimacy to Putin.

Lets just hope that there is some open dialogue and Erodogen doesn't mess around with the pilots.

It does sound awfully 'Russian' of them to ignore 10 warnings though! Maybe they were just lost or going on holiday to Turkey (2nd favourite holiday destination for Russian military personnel behind Eastern Ukraine).

Erdogan closed down all the newspapers and TV stations that refused to support him. He arrested the Editors. It's a dictatorship with a legitimate face.

Reasonable Turkish folk I met on holiday a few weeks back seem to detest him.

I dont think it's the first time this month that Russian military jets have flown over areas of interest to quite a few countries. I cant work Russia's agenda out, they're either dumb as fk or operating on an intelligence level way above what I can comprehend with what they do.

A jet needed to be scrambled to go inverted 2 metres above the Russian cockpit while the pilot is flipping the bird at the Russians. It's the only thing they understand wink

Apart from that, NATO Article 5 is twitching. With luck and diplomacy the incident will indeed blow over, as long as the pilots aren't buggered about so to speak.

Sounds about right from most things I read about the place. What I don't get is why people choose to go there on holiday.

I suspect a lot of people don't look at that last point, or even know.

I'd love to see a polaroid of that.
