As predicted Russia has has taken a calm and soft approach to ensure this does not happen again:
1.Each and every strike groups’ operation is to be carried out under the guise of fighter jets
2.Air defense to be boosted with the deployment of Moskva guided missile cruiser off Latakia coast with an aim to destroy any target that may pose danger
3.Military contacts with Turkey to be suspended

Look strong, carry big stick, but communicate through back channels. Russian people think you are strong, life carries on.1.Each and every strike groups’ operation is to be carried out under the guise of fighter jets

Poor analogy.
Shooting someone because they have been in your front garden carrying massive weapons and have not heeded numerous warnings, and then you shoot them once with the minimum force you could/
Do you seriously believe that the Turks thought that the Russians were going to bomb them? That's ludicrous.Shooting someone because they have been in your front garden carrying massive weapons and have not heeded numerous warnings, and then you shoot them once with the minimum force you could/
Well, they've made their bed and will have to lie in it. They obviously believe that they can hide behind NATOs skirt to avoid the immediate effects of their trigger-happiness but I suspect that they'll suffer some nasty retaliation down the line.
At the very least, I don't think their little line in laundering ISIS oil is going to last much longer.

I have a lot of Russian friends, generally anti-Putin. They are all pretty angry about this. Russian press is stating that according to Russian ATC, there was no infringing of Turkish airspace.
I can understand why tbh. Even the information coming out of Turkey suggests the plane wasn't "hit" until it was in Syrian airspace. The distance that the Russians travelled across Turkish airspace was approx 3kms, the speed and direction would show it was no threat to the Turks, and while they have the right protect their airspace, it was a particularly daft action and poor response. The Turks know they are wrong, whilst not admitting it, by just running to hide under the skirt of NATO.
If I was Turkey I would not dare to put my big toe into Syria, without the expectation for it to be blown off

Russia deploys missile cruiser off Syria coast, ordered to destroy any target posing danger ...
Three steps as announced by top brass:
Each and every strike groups’ operation is to be carried out under the guise of fighter jets
Air defense to be boosted with the deployment of Moskva guided missile cruiser off Latakia coast with an aim to destroy any target that may pose danger
Military contacts with Turkey to be suspended
That means 'any' NATO military aircraft that happen to be in that area with their pointy end facing in the direction of the Russian Navy will end up carrying out an unexpected ejector seat test, just so Putin can have his bit of meat.Three steps as announced by top brass:

Air defense to be boosted with the deployment of Moskva guided missile cruiser off Latakia coast with an aim to destroy any target that may pose danger
Military contacts with Turkey to be suspended
This will result in the Russian Navy carrying out unexpected abandon ship procedures, and so on, and on, and on................

The Russian jet wasn't in Turkish airspace when it was shot down, it had left Turkish airspace, was heading away from Turkey, and posed no threat. It's analagous to shooting someone because they've taken a short cut across your front garden.
actually it's walking across a 2 foot spur of your neighbour's garden while he regularly tramples all over his Greek neighbour's garden and actually steals part of it...This could end badly for the Turks - and without wishing to be overly bellicose one couldn't say that they wouldn't deserve it

Indeed. And more links on Russia bombing ISIS
ISIS 'left on brink of defeat' by Russian bomb attacks with only 34 bases left

Will we read more links from a certain place on how Russia are bombing the not-as-bad-as-ISIS-lot?
also...erm, "China has also joined the war against ISIS..."

It doesn't matter whether it makes the situation worse or not. Why shouldn't a nation have to question itself or be questioned by others with regards to defending its own sovereign territory?
Do you honestly believe that Turkey shot the plane down as an act of defending its territory?Turkey know exactly what the Russian plane was doing and that, if it had strayed over the line, it wasn't an act of aggression towards Turkey.
Turkey shot the plane down in support of a militia operating in Syria. The fact that the plane appears to have momentarily crossed the Turkish border was very convenient for Turkey.
Russia knows it, Turkey knows it. The rest of NATO knows it.
Turkey are just being typical assholes again

Mr Erdogan spoke of Turkey's "rage" at the decision to shoot down the F-4 Phantom on 22 June and described Syria as a "clear and present threat".
"A short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack," he said. The Turkish jet was on a training flight, testing Turkey's radars in the eastern Mediterranean, he said.

No. I never said that. But if a Bear bomber was over Dover and within 20 mins of London, would we let it carry on?The Russians know where the borders are.
Expect to see lots of reaction/tension and no physical action.

I can see the Russian response including helping the Kurds establish a defacto nation along the Turkish boarder and arming them to the teeth.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Greek ambassador in Moscow has received an offer of some free SAM systems for use in the Aegean, where Turkish military aircraft deliberately violate Greek airspace hundreds of times a month....rich85uk said:
