Eating red meat can supposedly cause cancer, so it's reassuring that long-established research links cancer to fruit and vegetables. Reassuring for meat eaters anyway, might as well enjoy meat as the alternative is no better.
I thought that study was rebutted:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19439460
I hope so anyway because I drink beetroot juice like a mad man.
Hitler wasn't vegetarian... but he did say he could foresee a world in which meat was considered taboo.
The report that came out is not really news... the British and American health associations have said for years that cutting red meat out of ones diet prolongs life expectancy. As well, the meat industry does account for more pollution, than every single car, plane, train and vehicle on the planet; one might not care one iota and that's fine; but it doesn't make it untrue. Meat - and to some degree , the stuff they pump into it is cancerous. Fact. So is smoking, but plenty of people enjoy that. So it's a simple choice.
Regarding vegan / vege diets not been able to sustain a man, go tell David Haye

I think there was a recent report out about eating red meat increasing the risk of cancer by 18%.The report that came out is not really news... the British and American health associations have said for years that cutting red meat out of ones diet prolongs life expectancy. Smoking increases the risk of cancer by 2500%.
Pass me the bacon sandwich.
As for not being able to live on a vegetarian diet alone, certainly, it's possible to get most of your required nutrients from vegetation. The problem I found (went to a vegetarian restaurant this week) was that while it was bulky I didn't feel satisfied. I felt like I'd drank a lot of water - that kind of empty feeling of being full. FWIW I only eat 3 small portions of meat a day.

What would Morrisey say?
Frankly, really, even among those who actually like his music; does anyone honestly care?Fred has clearly never seen our nearest relatives in the animal world (Chimps) carry out an organized hunt for collabus monkeys. Wonder if anyone has ever told chimps, and other meat eating primates, they should only be eating bananas?

I don't see why everything has to be so black and white on this site. Cut down on meat eating doesn't mean you have to turn into a yoghurt knitting lentil quaffing lefty genderfluid vegan who self identifies as 'otherkin'.
Chimpanzees eat mostly fruit and vegetation by the way, they are not carnivores.
Edit: I see Fred has covered this point above.

Dogs aren't carnivorous either... Not many mammals are, cats are the only ones that spring to mind, maybe whales but they eat fish, does that count? (they don't have canines either)
I don't normally get involved with these types of topics, but that one line is plainly utter codswallop. Of coursre they're carnivores, it's only stupid humans that add vegetables to their food. Give a dog the choice of a nice rabbit or a carrot, I know which the dog would choose.Shar2 said:
