Most offensive to me is that they spelled 'beautiful' incorrectly. The spelling police should be involved.

Can I ask if there is a medical reason for this?

The reason I ask is that I'm 6ft5 and when I'm in peak shape (from running, nothing to do with weights) I will weigh 13stone. I'm currently about 13 and a half and it's obvious that I've had a lazy few weeks. 17 or 18 stone for someone 6ft sounds high, unless it's muscle.
11-15 stone is the NHS healthy weight for someone who is 6ft 5. That's a 4 stone difference, hence total bks when it comes to calculating what is and isn't healthy. There's more to it than just weight vs height, if you were 11 stone 6ft 5 and lived on coffee and lentils I suspect you would be much more unhealthy than someone of 17 stone who is very active and has a well balanced diet.

Too many people think skinny=healthy. While fat is often unhealthy, the opposite is definitely not always true.

Still think the story that started this all off is vile and the person who handed out the card is a prize tosser.

fking hell, so I'm like one of these rude people handing out cards because? Why? Would I say that I think she's overweight to her face? Yes I would if she asked me. I wouldn't just tell her my thoughts, as I wouldn't be having them if I was just sat on the tube minding my own business. But the act of someone put a card in her lap telling her she's fat leads me to make a judgement based on all the reporting that has since happened, and I think she could do with losing some weight. I wouldn't use it as an insult, but I am entitled to my opinion on what I think is healthy and looks good, and I think she is neither. And if she was with her dad, yes, I would say it. I doubt she'd be with a boyfriend as she's so fat....

For the avoidance of doubt and liberal bleeding heartedness, that last sentence was a joke.

No medical reason.
And good for you, glad you are in peak state :-)

Myself, I hate running. or Excersize. except sex.

I like food. Nothing beats a cheeky Dominos.

Besides, clothes hide a lot and the only person who has to see me naked is my Mrs (and Mum if I became incapacitated).

That's me in the hoody in the middle.

Yeah, but the guy I asked a question about is 6ft and 17/18st, that is surely unhealthy in anyones book? Regardless of diet etc.

yes, we mustn't talk about the elephant in the room

it's a normal sized elephant, not everyone wants to be a gazelle, the elephant might be happy, it's anyway not the elephant's fault and we must care for the elephant's feelings

when they put the same tax as fags on cake chubsters and their chasers can be as fat proud as they want wink

6ft 5 and 13 stone is very very light indeed.

I'm the same height but I simply couldn't be that weight even if i were extremely unwell.

Are you sure you tip the scales at that BrabusMog?

I weigh myself in kg, but around 84kg is peak for me if I am taking my running seriously, I think that's around 13 stone. I can go as high as 90kg and because I don't really do much weight/core strength work, it makes me look quite chubby hehe

I said "when" I am in peak shape biggrin

And trust me, I'm not stranger to a takeaway, but I will happily go out and run 10k on a Sunday if I went on the piss on Friday/Saturday and sank several takeouts in between. I'll also then eat a bit better for the next few days and go for a couple more 10k runs as it's only 45-50 minutes out of my time, and keeps me happy when I look in the mirror.

As to whether people should hand out cards as has happened is debatable, personally, I think its just pranksters on a wind up , but I do know for a fact, that many of the huge fatties we see , are in complete denial as to how they are.

I have instances in a branch of family , not that close (thankfully) but they think they have no problems at all, even when faced with the facts , and the considerable frustration of close family.

The mother is in her early 50's and cannot walk any distance , owing to her being too heavy for her legs to bare. She has to use a mobility scooter , and has frequent visits to GP and all with various ailments, including in the past 18 months the onset of diabetese, most if not all of her ailments are directly down to her gross weight. All she does all day is sit around, snacking junk most of the time, I always think she looks like a wardrobe that wears shoes.

The daughter is her apprentice. She's in her 20's , goes in and out of part time jobs , and has similar home life habits as her mother. Its a pity , as she was quite an atrractive girl in her teens , but now she is huge, and is already a frequent visitor to the GP with one thing or the other ,including joint pains in her legs, and it seems only a matter of time before she joins the diabetes club. The last time I was round there , she sat and ate 6 donuts in no more than 15 minutes, it was about 11am. When I went back to drop her brother off about an hour later, she was winding down a big slice of cake. You get the picture

Yet both these think that they have no problems , and everything is ticketty boo, they have their "treats" , because they are worth it, outlook. Yet I know from the brother that close family constantly point out that they eat far too much, and would benefit by loosing weight.

They remain oblivious to the concerns, and just ignore the facts. Bizarre really.

Maybe it is about time people woke up to the reality, the UK is a fat nation where it has become social acceptable.

I do not condone what the 'man' who handed the lady this card did, but at what point is the trigger that makes you do something about your size?

I would love to not see them, but to be frank you can't really miss them. It's about having some self respect, social standards and general tact; part of the reason why I left the self-indulgent, selfish country that is the UK.

Maybe they need to consider what is appropriate dress and this extends to anyone, fat or thin.

He was not asthmatic, he was so fat he could not even tuck a shirt in.

It is a lifestyle choice, people choose to be fat, people choose to smoke, people choose to drink; smoking and drinking are restricted by age and by location (outside / not in the street for example), yet nothing for obesity.

Here in Germany I cannot remember when I last saw an extremely fat person.
I'm sure the people know they are "fat" (if they are fat enough to be classed as fat, and not a size 14!)
Certainly we should not be pressured into things by BULLYING (which is exactly what the card people are doing is) or insulting.

I repeat myself as to what I said before, people are able (rightly or wrongly) to wear what they want. This is not to please you.

You can't make it "illegal" to be fat because what constitutes fat, what about IF they do have a medical problem
What IF they have mental issues and their get outs are eating?

Glad you are so happy in Germany. Don't think we want bigoted people in the UK.

Lot's of hipsterphobia coming through on this thread... I'm not a hipster but I don't think there's any evidence that these Fat Haters are either... We don't want to save one oppressed minority by creating another one - do we?

BTW Size 14 is fat...
