Maybe, but what about footballers, rugby players, drinkers, smokers, drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, dancers, golfers, climbers, ramblers, tennis players, girls who wear "silly" high heels, people that shove stuff up their bottoms, people who have piercings, self harmers, drug addicts, dog owners, disabled people, people that decide to have kids, people that light bbqs with petrol. All "choices".

And what about non choices then. People with congenital propensities to certain diseases, cancers autoimmune, nuero? Should we not let such people breed...? FFS, mind your own business and be grateful for what you have.
If you believe some stats, there is 30-40% of UK people overweight. Which means that about 30% of the people that you interact with and rely on to get through life are overweight too. You do ok out of them, so get over yourself ffs. Or see how far you get by refusing to be served by such people, because it wont be jus the 30% that tell you to "do one, sir".

We have the debate on sugar tax, another Namby Pamby Nanny state interfering where it shouldn't, trying to cure a "problem" born from a society it has morphed. My daughter is growing up in a less carefree world with less fun, more PC bullst and a "worse" society that I did 40 years ago. And successive interfering governments just make it worse and worse.

If a few more people minded their own business, life would be nicer for everyone, IMHO.

What about all those sports people? Fat people are lazy and a much greater cost to NHS than sports people!

Refusing to be served? What on earth are you talking about? Just because 30% of people are overweight is of little relevance of how many fatties I have to talk to.

Are you angry cos you're a fatty?

But it is not just "sports people", it's other stupid things people do. And go to an A and E at any time of day or night, or any doctors surgery or clinic and see for yourself who is there.
What the make up of people is, and the cost to the NHS. Do you know or are you just assuming NHS spends its money treating obesity. You see, it doesn't. There are some estimates to say that 60% of UK population is "overweight" and yet does that mean everyone overweight is under a doctor? No, of course it doesn't. Most are overweight because they have jobs, (many ironically in healthcare), contribute to society, (some far more than you and I ever will), and just get on with a busy work life, don't have time or inclination to have the best nutrition and aren't able to spend their lives on a treadmill, or walking, or swimming etc. Some people spend more than a normal working day travelling to their work and back, to do their working day! They work, they eat they sleep, they provide for their families, rinse and repeat. And yet, they are less of a burden than many down the gym hurting their backs doing squats, guys ripping their knees out at footy, or people out drinking on a Saturday night. Some of the most vacuous great looking non contributors to society either financially or otherwise, can be found at a Bannatynes for 4 hours a day, whilst the rest of the world works it's arse off providing for them.

And what about the 700,000 NHS employees that are reportedly overweigh or obese (out of 1.3M) are the self same ones keeping the rest of us alive and that you rely on to keep you well?

Remember next time you are at A and E, or at the docs getting treatment, remember to tell them your views on fat people as expressed here. I am sure they will appreciate some input from someone who "knows so much".

You are a fool. You are happy to denigrate and be rude toward the self same people that help you get through life day in day out. And when it is pointed out to you, you call me "fatty".

Well so be it, but I can see where your prejudice and arrogance would get you if you went through life spouting your anti fat diatribe to people in person rather what hiding behind your keyboard and doing it.

So perhaps be grateful toward the 60% of you fellow UK humans who are overweight, but that help you get through YOUR life day in day out, without judging YOU on your appearance/health/opinion. (Although I am sure you are a philanthropist who rebuilds rainforests and gives all your millions in tax paid income to children in Africa, and lives off your Supermodel wife's income, and you have never used the NHS in your life, have you, Adonis?).

FFS grow up, be grateful for what you have and how you think you look, and lose the bigotry toward some less fortunate or more lazy pie eating members of society that work bloody hard for all of our benefit. And if you honestly think I am wrong, well you go try it. Next time you are in a restaurant, hospital, shop, talking to a call centre, tell them your opinion on fat people and who they are a cost to society and the NHS. See how that works out for you and come back and tell us how you were right, all along.

Well fking said that man. I have far more time for the very many "overweight" people that are nice, pleasant and mind their own business, that I encounter every day, than smartarses that post such drivel without really having any clue.

This whole thread saddens me. Lest we forget the subject matter, it should just be page after page of people condemning what is a vile and spineless cowardly smart arsed action by a vile, spineless cowardly smart arse.

As it is, we have a core of presumably so called "men" on PH, calling this woman "fat" and writing quite frankly unsubstantiated twaddle about the world as they see it and how perfectly normal people who go about their days in a normal manner are a scurge on society and the NHS.

What the flip has PH become?

If this was your friend, cousin, daughter, colleague, would you seriously not just be outraged that these reported incidents occurred? That's all that needs to be said. All the people calling her fat and calling other PHers fat, trying to be smart because they wear a certain size jeans, should seriously take a look at themselves and ask themselves if they are quite as great and superior as they appear to think they are.

Because as others have said on here, and many others I suspect think but daren't say for fear of ridicule and name calling, this thread has truly shown some people who clearly quite fancy themselves, are actually just well massive belms I am sorry to say.

What a woman in the street, tube or paper looks like through choice or otherwise is absolutely her fking business, if she looks fabulous, it 'aint for you, and if she doesn't, well it's up to her.

I hope it is a relative minority all posting on here as they are creaming themselves deep down at such a "funny" event, (although will hide behind a false sense of outrage at it, then go on and display the self same bigotry and arrogance that the perp in this case did).

Its both, if you lead a sedentary life you don't need as many calories.

I work in IT and I'm a bit fat. I should either eat less lard or move around more. Its not rocket science.

no they are overweight because they eat too much.
Unless you have some stats thats shows are work increase calorie intake
Well his stats are actually correct in that 60% of UK is overweight, so since we don't have unemployment, at say 40% (working age) then many (most) will have jobs. And many will be in sedantry jobs working long hours, we all know people that are like that, and many will be on here also!

The stat about estimated 700k of the 1.3M NHS staff being overweight is quite astonishing, suggesting that "weight management" even for trained professionals is not as easy as many one here would make out.

BTW, I am not "a fatty" as some would say on here, I have never been called that and never considered myself fat, but some of the childish and sexists comments on here (not aimed at you that, Swerni) are an absolute embarrassment. Some of you guys belong in a playground. And some banging on about their "perfect women", well one has to wonder how many you've actually been involved with up close and personal. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

Slightly O/T but I have two male friend one 48 and one 52 who have been single and actually "alone" all their lives as they were in their words " far too fussy"! Never let themselves get to know ladies that were perfectly fine companions and romantic interests, but they would not let themselves see it and are now pretty much resigned to life as a single. It is neither's "choice", but they get on with it. I will be careful what I say, as one is a member on here, but by his own admission, he would probably do things differently if he could go back. Any single members who instantly dismiss a lady that is not a 9/10 in their eyes should keep this in the back of their mind, perhaps!! :-)

p-a-p, you need to stand back and take any emotion out of your arguments. You are taking this far too personally.

No-one has condoned the actions of the perp, what we are trying to point out is that, yes, she is carrying more fat than is medically advisable, and that yes this does create a burden on the NHS.

It IS easy to drop the fat if you are mindful enough to do it. Take my wife for example. At the start of the year due to eating too much and not moving enough, she had put on enough fat to take her up to a size 12-14 and she really was not happy about how fat she had become. She was depressed, and suffered back problems and migraines.

She then decided to do something about it. She works a regular office job and has 3 hours of commuting by train everyday. She got herself a fitness tracker and subscribed to myFitnessPal. She started doing 20 minutes cardio every morning, getting up that much earlier to fit it in. She logged EVERYTHING she ate, and tracked all her activity. She occasionally walked instead of getting the tube and went for a walk at lunchtime. You know what happened? She is now a small size 8 with about 15-20%BF. She no longer has migraines, her back problems are a thing of the past and she is incredibly happy with her body. She also did her first pullup in the last few weeks. She can back squat her bodyweight and deadlift more.

These are tips that anyone, male or female, can take on board and lead happier, healthier lives. I personally cannot even stand the sight of fat on myself, let alone anyone else. No misogyny here.
