p-a-p, you need to stand back and take any emotion out of your arguments. You are taking this far too personally.
No-one has condoned the actions of the perp, what we are trying to point out is that, yes, she is carrying more fat than is medically advisable, and that yes this does create a burden on the NHS.
It IS easy to drop the fat if you are mindful enough to do it. Take my wife for example. At the start of the year due to eating too much and not moving enough, she had put on enough fat to take her up to a size 12-14 and she really was not happy about how fat she had become. She was depressed, and suffered back problems and migraines.
She then decided to do something about it. She works a regular office job and has 3 hours of commuting by train everyday. She got herself a fitness tracker and subscribed to myFitnessPal. She started doing 20 minutes cardio every morning, getting up that much earlier to fit it in. She logged EVERYTHING she ate, and tracked all her activity. She occasionally walked instead of getting the tube and went for a walk at lunchtime. You know what happened? She is now a small size 8 with about 15-20%BF. She no longer has migraines, her back problems are a thing of the past and she is incredibly happy with her body. She also did her first pullup in the last few weeks. She can back squat her bodyweight and deadlift more.
These are tips that anyone, male or female, can take on board and lead happier, healthier lives. I personally cannot even stand the sight of fat on myself, let alone anyone else. No misogyny here.

The increase in sedentary work is likely to have something to do with it.

Its both, if you lead a sedentary life you don't need as many calories. http://www.iea.org.uk/in-the-media/press-release/i...
I work in IT and I'm a bit fat. I should either eat less lard or move around more. Its not rocket science.
@hoofy - When are you free...
@BrabusMog - I am used to dealing with muppets who cannot see the logical argument around fat loss. People try to squirm round the logic and physics, but at the end of the day there is no valid reason for a healthy adult to carry excess fat in this day and age with so much information available to them. If you choose to be fat, and yes it is a choice, you should be ostracised as much as a smoker.

And some banging on about their "perfect women", well one has to wonder how many you've actually been involved with up close and personal. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
Beauty may well be in the eye of the beholder but based on how men actually vote in "sexiest women" competitions and the like the most attractive dress sizes for women are 6-12 depending on height. Some on here seem to making this all about misogyny if we wont accept lard arsed women as potential partners. This is nonsense and this has nothing to do with misogyny but is holding both sexes to the same standards.
Look at the ideal body shape women want from a man. Honed abs, well developed chest and shoulders and think of the sheer amount of work needed to get to that state. And yet we are being sexist pigs for asking women to watch what they eat, do a bit of exercise and work on their core (which is all they need to do to achieve their "ideal" body shape).
It is time for these women to stop hiding behind accusations of Misogyny and bleating that men should accept their chubby forms as being "real" women and to shape up.
Personally I don't do too bad in terms of chest, shoulders and biceps my problems are all with the Abs. But I don't sit around saying that my chubby stomach makes me a "real" man, I try and do something about it.

Great, and you may well be quite right about how she or anyone overweight could change and how she and others are the size she is because of how she choses to behave. BUT you all seem to be missing the point.No-one has condoned the actions of the perp, what we are trying to point out is that, yes, she is carrying more fat than is medically advisable, and that yes this does create a burden on the NHS.

The woman who was the victim of this nobber with the card, is (seemingly) happy with her size and weight! She wasn't on Jeremy Kyle moaning about it, was she? Sadly, I suspect too that the second case with the poor woman who burst into tears, may be less so, but the main story is about a woman that seems to be happy as she is.
What your wife did is fabulous and we would all applaud it, on the assumption that I am sure is fair that she wanted to do it and change herself.
But no one, not you, I or anyone here, no hipster on the Tube, should ever make her or anyone like her feel she should have done so, or feel bad about how she was before. It is none of our fking business.
What your wife achieved is really good, and clearly not easy with her busy life.
I don't know if you have kids, but if not, ask her whether she would have managed it if you did have. As a parent myself, it is mind boggling how much time is taken out of the day dealing with the little blighters. Still can be done, I am sure, but does take up a lot of time and time that is "not flexible" like sometimes work, washing and socialising can be.

Nail / head as far as this thread topic goes. I would hope we could all agree on that. But no one, not you, I or anyone here, no hipster on the Tube, should ever make her or anyone like her feel she should have done so, or feel bad about how she was before. It is none of our fking business.

I don't give a flying fk if she is happy with having too much fat, she has too much fat to be considered healthy. Even by the retarded BMI scale she is borderline obese. I was happy with smoking for 17ish years. I was not healthy by any standard in existence.
What no-one here has done is to condone walking up to a random woman on the street and shaming her you numpty.
I didn't realise it took time to eat LESS food
Everyone should want to change themselves for the better, I am actually trying to put weight on at the moment, because I am too skinny and have knee issues that come from that.

Under no obligation no but we need to stop facilitating this delusion that people being able to tell they are approaching by glasses of water vibrating like with the T Rex in Jurassic Park makes them a "real woman" and men have to accept them as they are, as allot of men wont and they may not have their pick of partners and be able to follow the lives they want.No-one has supported someone naming and shaming fat women on the street. But this delusion suffered by so many women needs to be challenged. Personally I think this whole debate has become so distorted from reality that they need to teach it in school. What body shape do you want to achieve and then sensible ideas on diet and exercise to go about doing it.

The point you are missing is that they are under no obligation to arrange their personal life around being potential partners to you or anyone else.I accept that not everyone has the motivation or opportunity to look like a fitness model all the time but I do have major issues with the concept that we should celebrate laziness as normal and decry effort as unrealistic. It is immensely easy to get fat nowadays thanks to limitless cheap high calorie food and mostly sedentary jobs but all it takes is some basic education and discipline to become the best that you can be.

This may be true but it's not quite as simple as gut = hot. One of the reasons people end up with partners of similar attractiveness is if there is a significant difference then the less attractive partner is constantly worried that the more attractive one will leave for someone else more their speed. This leads to all kinds of crazy jealousy issues and the relationship failing. This works both ways but women are more prone to body image issues and hence more likely to under-rate themselves. Basically if your average woman is a bit chubby then they will be intimidated by some shredded fitness model and far more likely to go for Mr average with a bit of a beer gut.look it up. actual study.
