I can't seriously believe you're still banging that pathetic drum.
Even if I am just a massive racist and my actual motivation is that I dislike all brown/black/yellow/white people who are Muslim because they're brown/black/yellow/white, am I wrong about the nature of Islam or the threat that it currently poses?
Yes, entirely wrong. Even if I am just a massive racist and my actual motivation is that I dislike all brown/black/yellow/white people who are Muslim because they're brown/black/yellow/white, am I wrong about the nature of Islam or the threat that it currently poses?

Yes, you are totally wrong about it because you are applying your prejudices against the extreme version of it to the whole of the religion.968
Why is it depressing? The purpose of the thread was to discuss ways of identifying which Muslim groups can be trusted to work with western governments in tackling radical Islamism. I would have thought that should be quite a constructive thread which any Muslim interested in tackling extremism would have much to contribute to.
Unless you mean that it's depressing in terms of BSR popping in every half a page or so to call me racist?
BSR
I'm not applying my prejudices. I didn't write the quran. I didn't sneakily photoshop the extensive quotations onto ISIS' handywork. I didn't scoot back in my Zionist time machine and start a load of baseless rumours about the nature of Mohammed and the origins of the religion he founded.
The violence and supremacism are there in black and white in the core texts of the religion.
The fact that most Muslims don't behave violently is self-evident. There is a dividing line somewhere. What on earth is racist or bigoted about discussing where it lies?

But 95% of muslims don't take the book to the letter as you well know and ignore.
Just the same as 95% Christians don't follow the bible to the letter
Basically, you don't agree with a book written 1800 years ago, and you think that justifies your phobia for Muslims.
Im already bored of this again so I will leave you to keep kidding yourself that you have some genuine reason to fear all muslims and carry on preaching to your likeminded friends.

This is exactly the problem with PH over recent years. We all just give up on these threads,me included, so it ends up being a circle jerk like the UKIP ones were. How many migrant threads have been binned by Haymarket now? I am sure as dissenting voices disappear from this, then the craziness will ramp up and it will go the same way. danllama said:

I think the media are absolutely instrumental is the stirring of hate and division.
My instinct is to agree but then you have to accept that they're just doing their jobs.I would far rather know what's going on than not.
See Sweden for the last few years as an example.
Obviously there are problems but I just don't believe we ever get an impartial and accurate portrayal of what's going on, as there are too many other agendas being brought into play.

Yes, they're doing their job but I feel that job, and what drives it, has changed in recent years. The truth comes second to a good story, that sells papers or gets viewers. I can't recall the specifics but there was a TV report a while back, that reported how groups of migrants were resorting to violence and fighting over cardboard boxes. On closer examination, the video footage actually showed these 'violent migrants' weren't fighting at all. They were actually having a laugh, in what were awful conditions, as they broke the boxes down to use them as insulation against the cold. Obviously that's not quite so sensational though is it?

That's a fair point and example. Pretty much why I try to find my news independently, via live leak etc but of course that requires scrutiny as well.Obviously there are problems but I just don't believe we ever get an impartial and accurate portrayal of what's going on, as there are too many other agendas being brought into play.
