Can we talk about Germany for a bit?

No media reporting any terrorist connection, even the Express. That's the real turn up for the books.
You know the score - a large percentage of NP&E posters are on the edge of their seats to be the first one to say 'I knew it would be' if there's even a hint that someone brown may be involved.Trabi601 said:

Yes, but are you sweating with the anticipation of them announcing it was a radical Islamist? As a matter of interest, why would anyo0ne think it may be a moslem?

Do you need to retire to your fainting couch?

Erm, not particularly, but you have to admit that it fits the bill.

Not sure. Some on here do seem to assume any attack might be carried out by a Muslim though. As a matter of interest, why would anyo0ne think it may be a moslem?
Sad that people assume the attacker is a Muslim. Could be anyone.
To confirm that it could be anyone I looked up a list of similar attacks where a vehicle was driven into crowds of people
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle-ramming_at...
Scrolling down the list it struck me that there was a spate of these sort of attacks in late 2014.
So I used Google's date filter to see what else was going on at that time
http://m.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/Nazareth-...
Fatah, the "moderate" Palestinian group posted a billboard for the Running Over Club.
Which tied in nicely with their cartoon of the time
http://www.timesofisrael.com/fatah-posts-cartoons-...

Which in turn followed
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.nydailynews.com/a...
ISIS spokesman (I don't think ISIS has a spokesperson) Abu Mohammed al-Adnani had urged the faithful to run over disbelievers with their cars.
Of course we know the so called Islamic State is nothing to do with Islam. And the bile of Fatah is just a local territorial dispute with Israel. And that past performance is no guide to the future so we should all have a balanced portfolio. However, it's easy to see why a betting man might think it is a Muslim.

I flew to Dusseldorf yesterday, to then had to get the train to Eindhoven (long story..) and I was quite surprised how Germany in that area at least has changed. Not related to the rest of the immigration comments (I don't think anyway) but just in general.
Lots of young men just hanging around at the station, on the street drinking beer, rubbish everywhere, and just generally not a nice atmosphere. I then went on the catch three trains and every single one of them was late. Properly late -- one by 30 minutes. If you were to ask me which country I could guarantee to be on time almost to the second I would have said Germany. I then went on to catch a train in The Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK (it was a long day) and they were all fine.
So has standards in general just dropped in Germany?

Emden on the other hand is an example of German order and cleanliness.
I wouldn't say the area around main station in a large city is likely to give you a good impression anywhere! It's probably also worth noting that the drinking culture is very different to the UK, and walking down the street with a beer in hand isn't frowned upon in the way that it would be here.
