Can we talk about Germany for a bit?

No surprise. "The east accounts for less than a fifth of Germany’s population" - from today's Borisgraph. AfD are waaay behind in the rest of Germany. It's a bit odd that you would choose this cherry-picked and irrelevant stat for your faux-chinscratching. You could have chin-scratched over the fact that the Green support is twice as high as AfD's in Germany.
But maybe it's not odd at all...

What the fk are you on about? It's news that populism is alive and well even in Germany not just the UK. People are sick and tired of having mass immigration forced upon them. Keep sticking your head in the sand like the rest of the political elite though.

AfD have a huge amount of potential, and the political class, who treat the rest of us like lemmings because of an inculcated sense of entitlement, will need to get real to compete with them. What crime was or was not committed by who is not important. What matters is that the population feel that their wishes are ignored when politicos want or feel that they have to to make a grand gesture. The Greens by comparison are a one issue party whose only real chance of longevity is to turn the primary school generation into environmental Nazis based on no scientific proof whatever.I would also say that AfD are also more sensible and realistic than the traditional parties, and indeed more sympathetic to the UK, when it comes to the Brexit debate. They are part of a generation in Germany which while opposed to the extremism of the early 20th century, do not see why they, who were not even born, should automatically accept punishment for it.

Looks like they may win a court case also, after over half of their candidates were not allowed to stand over a paperwork error.

Germany this week....
"Two guards protecting a Berlin synagogue in the district of Mitte detained a Syrian man who apparently sought to enter the building with a knife on Friday.
According to a report in the Bild newspaper, the Damascus-born man said “Allahu akhbar”’ or “God is Great” – a phrase frequently uttered before or during radical Islamist terrorist attacks."

Interesting to see a government tacking some of the responsibility for lack of integration. I think this has been at the heart of many issues in many nations; the expectation that it is not a two-way thing is absurd and unhelpful.
Germany's annual EU budget bill set to double to €33bn

Wonder how that'll go down
Sounds like the EU are trying to plough on with increasing their budget, rather than cutting their cloth accordingly with the loss of the UK's contribution.
Trying to get the rebates removed for the wealthy countries too, though I can't see them having much success with that!
