If you take a big step back.....

School trips are very limited... A guess... less than 5 a year.

With such wonders as these on our doorsteps...
British Museum ( substitute for local/ regional major museum )
Eden Project ( Substitute for local key project... e.g. Falkirk wheel etc )
Historic castles, national trust, English/ Scottish etc heritage sites
Roman ruins ( plenty everywhere )
Local factory ( key industry of new tech.... solar, wind etc etc )

Or.. we could have our kids visit a rather bland 1960's brick block, that looks like an empty carpeted function room in a Hilton hotel

It really is a missed opportunity.

Look... I am pretty clear that ramming religion down kids throats is nasty.

But if OFSTED are going to force it... invite said representative to come into the school... says their peace... and leave.

Let the school trips be for something that is inspirational and not faith based.

You wouldn't have to decide whether your kids went on this trip or not - the school in question is a C of E school so I'd guess you wouldn't send your children there anyway.

My comprehensive secondary school standardized the uniform between the sexes in 1989. Girls had to start wearing ties and blazers and could choose between skirts and trousers. In theory boys could also choose to wear a skirt if they wanted but none chose to do so smile

This isn't a new concept that is becoming mainstream. It is mainstream for the vast majority. There's just an old fashioned sexist minority who haven't caught up yet.

A bit late after the OP asked the question but absolutely no way. I am Catholic and whilst I appreciate there are other religions I don't believe I will be educating my daughter about a religion that views women so badly.

Yeah, you're probably better off sticking with the one which actively protects child molesters within their ranks.

You total Racist. Its a good job you don't have to list your name and address on here. If you did I would report you to the authorities for holding such vile views.

Whilst the post isn't racist, this one is pretty spot on though:

Yup... there is nothing like the head of your church obstructing sex abuse inquiries to make you feel all gooey.
What was that letter he sent to every bishop... oh yes... if you talk to the police with regards to cases of child sex abuse - you will be excommunicated.
What were his words... "it must be dealt with by reverend silence".... or some such...

Lovely fella, how his holiness let his Mexican friend get away scot free with the brutal rape of kids.

And yet still... every week... hundreds of millions of folks ruck up every Sunday and willingly fill the churches coffers.

I'm sure their God would be so proud of them.

Plus their religion is all based on some virgin giving birth in a barn. WTF.

It's incredible he can make such a statement when his own religion treats women as inferior and forces them into unwanted pregnancies.

Dateline: Sunday...15.42
Now having refreshed on the latest here, some of us are on our dutiful way to the priest who wears a cute ankle swirling frock and swings a winter-warmer smoking like an incendiary banshee, damning us all to hades if we don't take heed and then processes to the latest version of Cinderella and the twelve dwarfs. Then some of us ogle that bird in the next pew. Or bloke, or non-binary shape-shifter. It's all so confusing.

Maybe by going though, she will learn that this isn't true and forge an informed opinion of her own?

I think the irony of that is overwhelming.

"Come along to the Catholic Church's open day, you'll learn all about a woman's right to choose, and then you get to spend 5 minutes alone with Father O'Reilly who will be giving a special lesson in keeping secrets and how not to tell."

It's a day trip and all religion has bad points.

True. But not allowing your child go on the Catholic Church day trip isn't going to get you reported to the authorities.

No... but there is the remote possibility of your kid being dry bummed by Father ArseyMcKidBugger

Let's put it this way...
You know of an organisation that is widely known, and whistle blown that the CEO repeatedly does not co-operate with the police in every country on the planet when it comes to its staff buggering kids.
That organisation has a worrrying history in the kid fking industry. ( Was it 1 in 3 sexually abused kids in Spain was courtesy of the Catholic Church?)

The CEO sends out memo's threatening it's senior staff with something terrifying to them if they speak out about it to the police, newspapers or anyone else.

Now.. Do you really want to send you kid there, even for a day trip?

I sent mine to a Catholic School, so I guess we run that risk. Not too many Mosque trips though. biggrin

This is taking a bit OT....

But knowing that in the unfortunate event that your kid did get fked by Father McF**kyyourKidFace - you find that successive CEO's are out to protect their staff at all costs, and will get them out of the country so they cannot face charges, and threaten all staff that they are pretty much not going to heaven if they speak about it....

Why would you remotely consider trusting that organisation with your kids?

Why not find an educational organisation that has a culture of reporting kid rape to the police?

On the other hand if you take your kid to a Mosque they might get abducted to some 3rd world hell hole and married off at 12 where they can be 'legally' raped.

So really it's stupid to make hyperbolic examples of what are ultimately quite rare occurrences isn't it.

But having said that, we all know that that link to Islam & women is just public relations propaganda and not reflective of widespread attitudes/reality.
