I'm going to vote to stay in the EU, after all our bureaucrats are no better and just as wasteful as theirs.

I've got time for Farage but it's all black and white to him and it really isn't, it's a grey soup whether we're in or out, so I'd rather not have the hassle and uncertainty that a vote to leave result would give.

I do think the current renegotiation around welfare changes etc is a good thing and I'd like to see reform across the board and a fairer settlement for the UK but within the EU.

Fair enough, you're going with the status quo. I daresay that many others will also follow the 'safe' route.

I'm getting far more interested in the sort of issues highlighted by others, where we should be thinking far more about all of the benefits of leaving the EU. I am coming to the view that, as a nation, we could all find that we have an unexpected fresh start, an exciting period when we retake control of our own lives, and a renewed enthusiasm for a better life for all of us.

So anyone supporting the 'in' vote is a bedwetter? Great debating skills...
That's one of the reasons why he didn't get a reply. Don, here's a tip - you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar wink

The other reason he didn't get a reply is that he already knows the answer as well as I do. The UK treasury would not be £55m per day better off if we left the EU, or anywhere near it. That figure is the gross contribution and doesn't take into account things we get back. Its propaganda, pure and simple, aimed at the dense and uneducated in order to swing their votes..

It's a bit like saying "I pay my Council Tax and get nothing for it." Except the bins emptied, and the parks maintained, and the street lights, and the roads repaired (OK usually poorly these days but still some work gets done), and the police and fire services, and so one. But that, apparently, to the hard of understanding, doesn't count. They just pay out the money and get nothing back rolleyes

Don just likes winding people up. And anybody who doesn't agree with him is a leftie. Until now. Now we're bedwetters as well rofl

No - not tonight. I've been having a row on a railway related forum and I'm just taking a break on PH before the next round smile

But that wasn't designed to be an insult (believe it or not!). The correct information is available out there if you take the trouble to look. If you leave it to others to form your opinions for you, without taking the trouble to challenge or query the advice/opinions given by others, then that does suggest that you may be a little lacking in the skills necessay to make an informed decision on continued EU membership or otherwise.

That's old data 2013, you may not have noticed but we are in 2016 and last year we paid an additional £1.7 billion into the EU over and above what we would normally pay,
who knows what formula the the will think up going forward to screw more money out of us,
a vote to stay in is not a guarantee that things including costs will stay the same,in fact with the state of most of the EU it would not be surprising that the costs of membership rocket,
a leach has to keep leaching.

NO you CAN'T because the EU doesn't even know itself!

If that along with the shambolic handling of the immigrant crisis is not enough to LEAVE, I don't know what is!

Thank you for replying to my post. I do appreciate the attention, even when you are telling me that you are ignoring me. I love irony.

Earlier today somebody complained about the negativity on both sides of the debate. I responded with a list of positive reasons why Britain would be better off as an independent country. Guess what... my post was totally ignored.

Here is the list:-
don4l said:
We could negotiate our own trade deals with countries like India and China. Unlike the EU, these countries have growing economies.

We would re-take our seat on the World Trade Orginisaton.

We would take full control of our foreign policy.

We could get back to dredging our waterways.

We would restore our fishing waters to UK based fishermen.

We could do away with many useless and costly EU directives.

We would reduce the deficit by £50Bn a year.

Nigel Farage and Daniel Hannan would lose their jobs.

We could re-open some of our coal fired power stations and bring down the cost of electricity.

The list goes on, and on.
I am more than happy to engage in serious conversation, but you lefties don't seem to be able to engage at an intellectual level. All you want to do is hurl abuse.

Why don't you put forward some positive reasons for staying in the EU?

I would suggest that you cannot. The only reasons for staying that you can come up with depend on fear of the unknown.

That is why I use the term "bedwetter".

That's all history I would much rather see your reply to Don and enlighten us all about the future i.e. What would the positives be for staying in the EU?
