Electoral Commission : We consider this a matter for the Police.
Police : This matter is one for the Electoral Commission to investigate.
Conservatives : The Police & Electoral Commission do not consider this as a matter for an investigation. The law was complied with.
Public : Told you so, they are all corrupt.<<

All three by-elections should be re run and those involved especially little should be in the dock.

C4 News is banging on about this ad nauseam this evening. I would guess 90% + of the populace couldn't give a toss.
Did you know that 87% of statistics are dragged, as whole cloth, out of someone's rectum, without the inconvenience of actually doing any research?motco said:

The people in those areas who's 'elected' representative might when they start voting in parliament for things they don't agree with. If you break the law to win elections you undermine democracy.
You are probably right most people don't give a toss. But they should.

I used to think the country was relatively un-corrupt. Now I am older I realise it's just well hidden, compared to say Italy.
I don't think that it is well hidden. I think that we just don't believe that it could happen here.A few years ago, I went to a local council planning committee meeting.
There was the chairwoman, clerk and a couple of officers at the head table. There were 10 members of the planning committee. They sat in two separate groups. One group consisted of 6 members, and they voted as a bloc on every single application . The other bloc had 4 members, and they also voted as one.
At one point the chairwoman asked if any members had an "interest" in the next planning application. All members shook their heads. She then asked councillor "Smith" if he had a vested interest in the application. He said "No". She then read out a letter which said that councillor "Smith's" wife was a director of the company who wished to develop the site.
At this point, I would have expected the police to be called.
At the very least, one would assume that the councillor would be expected to stand down from his position on the planning committee.
He was simply asked to step outside the room while that particular application was discussed.
What shocked me was that nobody else in the room was surprised, yet alone shocked.

90% of the population probably don't watch c4 news, I couldn't understand why Farage didn't want to make a complaint about the Tory overspending (unless UKIP were at it too?).greygoose said:

I guess he feels like it will get spun and not reflect well and/or divert attention from the referendum. Better if a 3rd party pursues it, he should have said to channel 4 that they have the evidence and are supposedly neutral so they should do it.Esseesse said:
