BBC also pushing the letter written by CMD signed by 36 FTSE.

no mention of the bigger ones that refused, like Tesco, JCB, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, etc.

this is an interesting insight:

http://order-order.com/2016/02/23/no-10-loses-half...

looks like some are bogus too, M & S has issued a statement this morning saying that the signature of Marc Bolland, their outgoing boss on that letter , was made in a personal capacity and is nothing to do with them.

Do PH politics discussions operate in a parallel universe to the rest of us?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendu...

"He added that there were some notable absences from the letter - such as bosses of FTSE 100 firms including Tesco, Sainsburys, RBS and Barclays.
Downing Street dismissed suggestions that far fewer FTSE bosses were willing to sign up than had been hoped, putting it down to the procedures which big companies must conduct before they can endorse a political campaign."

I only heard about this yesterday but after her performance on the Sunday Politics I am not surprised at all, a truly awful interviewer. I get the feeling she thinks she's Paxman but doesn't have the intellect to pull it off, she is just a loud, hectoring harridan.

And he is absolutely right to pull her on her stunt. I'm really disappointed by BBC & C4 news who spent much of last night reducing EU referendum to a spat between 2 posh Tory boys and Etonian school chums instead of discussing anything of substance.

And as an aside as much as I have previously dismissed or disagreed with GG on everything he has stood for previously I find myself liking the man, and agreeing with him - at least when it comes to the EU. There is nothing more important than democracy, and the value of one (or woman), one vote - and the power to vote out (most importantly) the people from the power to affect your life. All other issues are subsidiary. So let's get the power back to somewhere we can affect it, then argue over our differences and the exercise of that power later.

Just listening BBC5live Nicky Campbell turning it into a chat with Farage about personalities - no discussion of the issue of EU membership, back on to Boris vs Dave...

Not talking about the web report, on about the TV and radio reporting of this, they are not mentioning the ones that have NOT sighed it.

other problem is it looks like some companies listed are actually already backtracking, M&S have already come out and said it's not their view.

You're saying they didn't mention some companies hadn't signed, which is an example of bias... yet they did ACTUALLY do it? Not much chance of winning any evidence based arguments with you I suspect.

Well, not living in the UK I don't have access to that so couldn't comment.

One company. And guess what, if you ask a CEO of a company you tend to expect they are representing that company when they answer. So it's not exactly surprising M&S was added.

Yes, commented elsewhere. This appalling gutter snipe journo'. Was so incensed at her continual attacking type hype sent this to BBC, Times, Telegraph, Guardian and Spectator at 6.00a.m. this morning. I'll be amazed if the BBC reply.

>>Sirs,

cc'd The Times, The Telegraph, The Independent, The Spectator, The Guardian

I am appalled at the continually obnoxious and repugnant interviewer that is your staff member, Jo Coburn. Her sensationalist type media aggression has no place within the BBC, nor on British Television. Her treatment of Mr George Galloway, as an invited guest of the BBC, is wholly unacceptable. For far too long Coburn's attacking technique is one not of an educated professional journalist but of an individual seeking tabloid press faeces grade headlines, and it must stop. This, combined with the BBC's highly evident prejudiced reporting on the critical subject of the EU Referendum, thoroughly debases what was once your highly respected organization; the BBC is evidently aware of its continual failing to provide fair and impartial reporting. I firmly recommend Coburn is removed from this programme as she is clearly unable to act with professional decency. In fact, why not do the job properly and remove her BBC employment contract.

Yours,<<

Nicky Campbell was interviewing Farage this morning and likened his relationship with Gorgeous George to the Molotov Ribbentrop pact. Worth the license fee on it's own.

For all his faults he's no fool. She made a right horlicks of that, but at least he got air time despite her own views, something I think that show does relatively well. I'll rue the day the BBC lose Andrew Neil.

No not really, I notice when presented with a caller with a contrary view to his own (the orthodoxy) on the phone in I often notice he (they as its not just Campbell) will spoil by cracking a funny or moving them off on a tangential angle. Faux bonhomie designed I presume to flag up "the next speaker is a nutter, crank, eccentric" - you can dismiss their view)

I heard that - A case in point on Campbell - why not debate the issues and keep the slurs out of it, drop the personality attack ('I'm only joking schtick) and destroy their argument.

No need to apologize, it's an individual's prerogative. The issue is piss poor BBC reporting which has deteriorated to unacceptable levels. As seen, the ever dumbing down of the UK in general simply caters to the lowest common denominator, be that the viewer/listener or the sensationalist headline grabbing journo' incapable of civilized communication. Journo's of Coburn's ilk have a public duty to show professionalism at all times, she rarely does. Her behaviour was a direct assault on the BBC guest, behavioral character assassination that has no place in public debate.

I saw some of the coverage on last night's BBC and thought it pretty even-handed, but this is an issue; what the (literate) likes of posters on PH will read and what the average voter digests by hugely truncated facts in headlines and on mainstream TV are two very different things.
