The reports on EU, Brexit and the refugee crisis are very telling on which way a publication leans when essentially reporting on the same story.

I have a different perspective living in a small country in mainland Europe where there isn't much spin/opinion within news stories, just the facts.
Which country? I'm actually toying with moving to mainland Europe. The media is all-pervasive here and 80% of it pisses me right off. The EU ref seems, for instance, to be about if you prefer Boris to Cameron or whether you're comfortable sharing an opinion with Farage or Galloway than any objective in/out examination.
I'm in Luxembourg, we get Lux, German and French news typically, but there doesn't seem to be the same bias here. Admittedly, I don't pay as much attention to DE news as my German is crap!

I'm the same as you, the news in the UK pisses me off, even more so now I see it from the outside looking in! I often read the same stories from BBC, Daily Mail, Guardian & Independent and it's ridiculous how differently the stories are portrayed and the use of vocabulary to scare or endear the audience...

Sorry folks, I went a bit of topic, here you go, a story about the sex attacks in Sweden as told by the Maily Dail... I especially likes this comment:

"I hope these men are found, but stories like this will only help fuel growing tension and hatred towards migrants..."

I think someone's lost and stumbled onto the wrong news provider! A few Maily Dail readers have pounced already and I'm certain more will bite.

At what point did it become acceptable for the media to take a biased viewpoint from any side.

Why anyone buys these newspapers I have no idea.
Ask William Randolph Hearst.

Not a very convincing argument in the UK. Outlets that don't fit your model include: Guardian, Daily Mail, Independent, BBC, Daily Express, Telegraph, Daily Star, Evening Standard, Mirror, Metro, Global Radio, Economist, Spectator. Obviously some of those are owned by the same company, but none of them are very American.
Rupert Murdoch comes to mind. And your other outlets are not all independent from one another, many are consolidated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concentration_of_media_ownership#United_Kingdom). I also mentioned links and alliances. Take this from Axel Springer here in Germany:

"Die Unterstützung des transatlantischen Bündnisses und die Solidarität in der freiheitlichen Wertegemeinschaft mit den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika."

That is from the company's guiding principles.

It is interesting to read that for a benchmark, but it is not that bad surprisingly.

You kidding? I looked up North Korean press in the dictionary and it said "see swivel eyed loon"

Now, where did I leave that red button.

That is astonishing "Seventy-four percent of Russian citizens say that they are ready to vote for Vladimir Putin at the nearest presidential elections, yada yada yada"

74%? So they asked every Russian citizen?

This is one aspect of any reporting that boils my piss, the % without any actual numbers game.

PH polls here tell you how many people voted, even the 'You're worth it' adverts on the telly now tell you that they only surveyed 38 women and 80% agreed their wrinkles were getting better.

Do the majority really believe a '75% agree' claim without even stumbling to question the number of people polled?

It's utter drivel, lazy reporting displaying little more than a level of ignorance that I abhor.

On the subject of bias...

Wikipedia said:
The Media Research Center (MRC) is a politically conservative content analysis organization based in Reston, Virginia, founded in 1987 by activist L. Brent Bozell III...Prior to founding the MRC, Bozell was the chairman of the National Conservative Political Action Committee...

Journalist Brian Montopoli of Columbia Journalism Review in 2005 labeled MRC "just one part of a wider movement by the far right to demonize corporate media," rather than "make the media better." Additionally, Montpoli wrote that, "False equivalence is at the very root of MRC’s beliefs."

He thinks putting a semi colon in his name makes him immune from laws. Claims to live off grid while being very much on grid.

He's a raving loony. No wonder he reads raving loony websites.

far be it for me to suggest that the above website might not be completely fair/impartial/full of bullst but the stuff about the BCC boss being forced to resign is errr.... bull5hit

No I wasn't forced

No I wasn't forced

No I wasn't forced

Basically anything I disagree with is "LibLeftCommieBeeb propaganda" and anything I agree with is "peer reviewed fact" which is deliberately being suppressed by the MSM.

Also sheeple.

You obviously don't know how this works.
For instance the BBC has got rid of all MMGW deniers, so their science isn't science, it is just the view of one side of the debate.
Some climatologists think we are headed for a temperature drop and the ice sheets at both poles have been expanding. The BBC do not report this.
