For the most part they generate less wealth/GDP, though many of them do of course provide invaluable services.
So if it's an invaluable service do they generate more value than private sector workers?

Straw blowing in the wind.

It is obviously not a monetary value as that is only paid by generators of it not consumers of it (even if superficially called Tax) as theirs is just recycled to the exchequer but obtained from said generators.

I used the word valuable in reply to a poster who used the term "invaluable" to describe the work done by certain public sector workers.

Civilised society couldn't exist without either the private or the public sector.
(that doesn't mean it couldn't exist without, for example, people who devise and monitor disability legislation or health and safety at work)

So how do you define value?

I just do not try and claim those that work for the government pay tax, both are valuable to and are core foundations of society.

One can not exist without the other however neither will exist for long if the balance is negative to the generator.

On tonights panel

Justine Greening, Douglas Carswell, Peter Coates, Isabel Oakeshott
Meh Greening is annoying, Carswell is a gimp, never seen Peter Coates so he gets the benefit of the doubt and Isabel is watchable and doesn't grate too much

1. I bought a new Telly and not sure the warranty cover my foot going thro it

2. It's a school night so I'd better not drink and she will drive me to it

3. Shadow Education Secretary FFS

Yep definitely best I skip it

For info...

There are 64.1M people in UK

23.9% are under 20
1.69M (2.6%) are unemployed
5.442M (8.5%) are public sector workers
16.6% are over 65

48.4% of the population supports the other 51.6%.
Sorry but a pet hate of mine. The Private Sector doesn't support the Public Sector. Or vice versa. In pure economic terms there is no difference between a Doctor/Nurse working for BUPA and one working for the NHS, there is no difference between a teacher working for Chavscum Comprehensive and one working for RuggerBuggers Academy etc etc etc
The solution is to ask the simple question "Who pays your wages?" The answer reveals whether the private sector supports the public sector.

I worked for the public sector, and I know who paid my wages. Many thanks to all you taxpayers out there wavey

Please PLEASE let them elect her once Corbyn is done with. It will keep them out of government for decades.

The only issue being that we do need an opposition.

She'll have to go on an adult literacy course first ... and elocution lessons ... she's obviously missed out on education somewhere along the line

The only reason to be watching what would otherwise be a dull programme.

I am slightly perturbed however, as Angela has brushed up rather well since I last saw her, which is spoilt every time she opens her mouth!
