Did she even realise, do you think?
She will have to pay more for someone to do the work. I've long wondered if this (the scarcity of low skilled labour) might lead to the only redistribution of wealth that actually works.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'she's equating immigrants with a serf class, which isn't an especially liberal outlook'.

FFS, patronising crap from someone with an entitlement complex. Salmond singing the same fking song again on TW, no answer when challenged about anything.

I guess people like her is a good indicator of why there was a large remain vote in London,??? which would be exactly what you would expect from the average comfortably off cusioned from reality smug middle class lefty,

I'm sure there are quite a few people who think like her in London, but I don't think that points to the reason for a large remain vote.

I'd proffer the large remain vote in London was due to a number of other factors, but principally the multiplicity of races and creeds occupying varying socioeconomic strata living in very close proximity - and generally without significant issue. It's difficult not to acknowledge the scale and importance of our interdependencies in that position, I think - and from there it's not a huge stretch to leaning heavily towards Remain.

I think you're right.

QT was its usual self last night.

Truss is a real liability for May. She started off really badly on the question of EU citizen status. Only latterly did she start to get on message with it IMO - ie along the "what about UK citizen's rights abroad and why shouldn't we only ensure EU citizen rights if that is sorted too" line. Hitchens was pretty much there, but naive about the bargaining chip angle - there's no need to be so brazen on it. Just keep ramming the "UK citizens rights need protecting at least as importantly" angle (which is the main issue IMO). Much harder to decry and only leaves "well if we give something they'll see us kindly" angle. Which is a leap of faith with no evidence behind it at all.

Labour woman was typical Labour - couldn't help in Copeland because she gets car sick. Just like the Abottopotamus, no backbone. Guitar boy was typically full of ideas which are lovely in theory without any clue as to the reality of implementation. Campbell demonstrated how out of touch some of these guys can be - he called them "foreigners" by jove! Sadly the 1970's pub singer who was arguing the point with him just came across badly!

The bigger disappointment last night was This Week. Nowhere near as good as usual. I don't see why they bother having Salmond on as he never says anything different whatsoever. Liz Kendall's a dimwit too - makes Truss look erudite. Portillo spitting feathers at the "let's vote on the deal" thing was half amusing but that he's having to even spell that sort of thing out says everything about the people who were on the show.

Video clip now on Order Order. https://order-order.com/2017/03/03/who-would-be-se...

Love the narrowing of eyes as she contemplates the potential horror of not being able to get a coffee.

ROFL moment.

Like Portillo, I don't understand the logic behind a second vote. Can anyone explain to me what they think it might achieve?

Is it just me or do the Scottish nationalists seem to get more than their fair share of sofa time on TW?

Seems almost every week it's either Salmond or John Nicolson sitting there wittering on.

You may be right - - but perhaps it's the "enough rope" concept?

This. And Andrew Neil likes taking the piss out of them.

The BBC also believe it can counter PH bias claims this way (but the show being on at near midnight means it doesn't count smile

They've watched Wizard of Oz too many times and think if they vote it down, they'll then wake up from a hazy dream into the black and white utopia that is EU central.

Portillo's rant at the dimwitted Liz Kendall was most amusing. Salmond was wanting to support LK but had his hands full with AN biggrin

Isn't the point of a second vote to put Theresa May's bad deal/no deal decision in the hands of parliament rather than the government?

But there is no decision. We have voted to leave the European Union. Whatever deal the government arrives at is it. What decision do the Lords think there is to be taken?

I fell asleep during QT last night, but just watched the end and Dawn Butler said to Dimbleby "arks Douglas" when asked (arksed?) about whether Nigel Farage should get a knighthood. The she did it again and no one picked her up on it.

Should I expect better from our MPs?

Same here. Worked on farms and offspring did also before moving onto other work. Simply do not believe that jobs cannot be filled.
