Andrew Neil nailed him, "so you want the talks to fail".
I'd love to know how Andrew Neil voted in the referendum - it's always amusing watching him roast remainers but I don't think he would have voted leave.
I've often wondered that. Probably testament to how good an interviewer he is that he doesn't let his personal preferences get in the way.
Yes, he'll never blow his own cover, but I have him down as a leaver, through and through.

He was really the only one that really gave both sides a fair hearing and didn't allow the leave side to just turn up and spin project fear out. Here is an interesting clip from that period where Ed Vaizey is laughing away at his own effort of being pushed out to talk crap on the Daily Politics, only to be cut down by a none too happy Neil. Labour woman then promptly thinks she can mug Neil off and promptly gets told not to bother and cut off for her efforts.

I had him down as a leaver too, but he is fair and impartial.

Always well informed, has facts at his disposal and enjoys calling them out on it. I'm still surprised that you have MP's go on his shows and think they can get away with peddling out dross.

I think she did after the show
After the show, shmafter the show. When will people realise that in terms of public opinion, real public opinion QT is miles ahead of Twitter. AIUI she bossed it, and you're left with your Twitter memes to try and score cheap points in the political vacuum.

I reckon the economist was right, May should take the first step/high ground and ensure the rights of the EU people in the UK now.

He showed this today on DP when Owen Smith tried to say the economy was suffering and he tried to use IPO as an example. Andrew Neil basically said "shut up, I know about these things and you don't - stop digging". Mr Smith took the hint and moved on smile.

Brillo is more often than not, pretty straight...he does sometimes get out of hand and act more like a typical journalist tt at times, but it's a lot less than his DP colleague, Jo the constantly interrupting moron.

I note the smilie used.

But we offered it before and the French and Germans wouldn't entertain it.

And the Ch4 interviewed a Luxembourg MEP the other day and she was poo poing UK nationals rights in the UK. I know she's just one voice and sanity will prevail. But its interesting that its not a universal "yep its fine" from our less than friends over there.

He's 'pretty straight' all of the time.

JoCo is an excellent political interviewer and to call her a 'moron' says more about you than her.
Both of them 'have' to interrupt some politicians to stop them avoiding questions by reading from the party script for 2 minutes. Marr does it as well. It's all part of nailing the f*ckers down.

Good for you.
He is pretty straight most of most of the time.

She does it to the ones that do answer patiently and correctly, I've seen her do it. Not all the MPs are automatons, the best of the MPs is Rees-Mogg and he gets the same treatment when she wants to barrack and bluster. Of course a well brought up young man like JRM can handle her rudeness with aplomb, others less so. biggrin

Must confess I was apathetic to politics for many years and never gave her much thought past being a bit of an oddball..........but having recently seen a lot of her speeches / interviews etc I can honestly say I would vote for her without hesitation..... IMO her thoughts on the NHS 20 yrs ago were well worth listening to as are her current thoughts....I do like her direct, no nonsense, style very much.

I have just been notified of this most important episode of Question Time :

David Dimbleby chairs topical debate from Gillingham. On the panel are Conservative MP Suella Fernandes, shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, co-leader of the Green Party Jonathan Bartley, businesswoman and broadcaster Michelle Dewberry, and Gerard Coyne, the West Midlands secretary of the Unite union who is a candidate in the election for general secretary.

That's right
