Has there been a false claim as yet? There may have been but if so I missed it.

It does seem strange when you can publish a physical book in the UK accusing the sitting Prime Minister of shoving his cock in a pig, have social media campaigns dedicated to PigGate and march around with giant pigs with DC's face on it and it's A OK.

But if I were to go to Germany and accuse the UK PM of the very same thing I might legally be charged. The right to slander heads of state should be constitutionally protected in all democracies.

The German newspaper Die Zeit interviewed (or more accurately, had an argument with) Erdogan. It's an interesting read.

He is someone to watch, and I don't trust him, but I must admit that as a regular reader of Zeit for years this statement is comical:

"Why would the media, which is independent in Germany..."

Erdogan's answer to that statement is quite eloquent and far more informative than that uttered by the reporter.

The new Ottoman Empire.
After what Erdogan said there'll be no chance of an Onanan Empire. With all the reproducing, nobody will have time to give a toss.
A bit late, but I see what you did there...hehe

“Turkey seeks jail term for NBA player for insulting Erdogan”

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/abcnews.go.com/amp/Sp...

Even documented history annoys the Turks:

“(Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan leapt to the defence of an Ottoman military commander on Wednesday after the United Arab Emirates foreign minister retweeted accusations that Ottoman forces looted the holy city of Medina during World War One.”

Along with the Armenian genocide, it's something I don't get about the Turks (and the Japanese I guess). all the empires did really really stty things to people. The Brits did, the Germans did, the Spanish did... and the guys they beat were more often as not equally stty to someone else at somepoint.

I don't get why acknowlegement that your ancestors were people of their times and thus total racist assholes should be s great indictment of the country today.

It seems weirder not to acknowledge it.
