Don't they keep a whole load of nuclear missiles just up the road anyway? I think a few bodyguards with pistols is pretty tame.
I was just about to say, plus planes roaming our skys armed with weapons that could slightly more tactically level towns or city blocks, puts worrying about licensing for a few shooters into context. I mean it's not like I can get a civvy permit for a daisy cutter is it?

In that case, QE's funeral, who'd get the special service?
The advantage of that event is the bad guys will have very little notice it is happening!

Yes, of course they have guns, many more than most realise. Apaches on standby, snipers, close protection, people hidden in audiences etc

That being said, it does in a way make a mockery of our anti gun laws. Essentially if you're powerful enough you can have guns to protect you buy if you're not then you can't
Your anti gun laws are a mockery.
They are over the top for legitimate sport users, but I'm glad we don't have a US style system. The average man on the street has no need for a gun.

I think blair went too far but in all fairness, I think anyone from your side of the pond would do well not to criticise other countries approach to guns.

The average man and woman does indeed have a inherent right to bare arms for whatever reason they see fit providing it is not to harm another human being.
I'm baring arms today; its 30 degrees so a t-shirt is in order.

That mis-interpreted right has lead to thousands of deaths. Compare and contrast with countries with tighter controls.

I like Americans.
They are really funny.
Their attitude to guns is quite charming.
And they do enjoy murdering each other with guns.

Although when it comes to terrorism...
From 2005- 2015 :
71 Americans were killed in domestic terrorism incidents.
301,797 Americans were killed by gun violence

Guess which one they bleat on about all the time...

I struggle to recall the last time a two-year old killed their mum in this country.

In the Land of the Free: From Jan 2015 up to October 2015:
- there were 43 shootings carried out by under 3 year olds.
- In 31 of the 43 recorded cases, a toddler found a gun and shot themselves.

I think that the day a toddler (that's what a 2 year old is) shoots his mum from the back seat of her car, while off to the supermarket, or toddler group, will be the day we have followed the good old U S of A just that teeny bit too far.

Trouble is as a nation we have become like f. lemmings, so that fear above may one day well bear fruit. Sadly.

And as for a 'shoot to kill' policy, there is no other way to fire a gun.
Shoot to wound/disable? I'm pretty sure you could kneecap people if stopping them from moving meant they were no longer a threat.

Its not the movies, otherwise you would just shoot the gun out of the other guys hand.

As I understand it, you shoot for the largest target - the body.

Unless you are trying to stop a "terrorist" and you are at point blank range, in which case you want to go through the brain stem, a la Charles Menezes.

The problem is they often do harm other human beings.

Disturbing. I would have never guessed at those numbers.

Mate, if it was the movies I'd be shooting bolts of lightening out of me fingertips and using telekinesis to drop heavy items like boulders, grand pianos and anvils onto them, shooting people is boring.
