far too complex Bright. Do you really think the average ignorant tt knows anything about politics? It's far more basic than that. I've had it since I was a kid (anti Jew comments). If only I had £50 for every time I have been called 'a fk'n Jew' or 'rich jew' or 'you're a jew, you must be rich'

In some situations the insult 'Jew' is used to imply a vampirous type creature that sucks the life or money out of someone else. That was the context I've experienced.

Ahh, well they are scum then. The kind of anti-jew rhetoric i've come up against is either the left wing anti Israel kind, or the right wing kind, that is somehow flattering, comparing Jews the world over to some kind of bond villain/cabal.

One of the problems with the confusion between antisemitism and being critical of Israel is that some Jews, and large parts of the Israeli government, actively fuel the fire. People are routinely accused of antisemitism when they criticise Israel, both by Israel supporting Jews and the Israeli government. I the critic of Israel then points out that they are Jewish, they are accused of self loathing and other nonsense.

But that aside, I believe KL is both, and therefore deserves all the crap that's flung in his direction, the odious tt.

The point was raised why there wouldn't be such an outcry by the alt-right if KL had been derogatory towards Muslims, I said why that would be as seen above. I was just stating the facts. Whilst these atrocities continue that will stay that way, it's unfortunate for the millions of peace loving Muslims who get a bad name because of these lunatics. Do you try to rein in the rapists and murderers who share your religion (if you have one) or your nationality? How exactly does a Muslim in Malaysia stop a convert Muslim killing people in London?
In fact how does a Muslim who works in the financial services in London stop a convert Muslim from killing people?

Yes Ken was coming from a perspective that some academic Jews believe also. I don't agree with it but it is out there and Ken is trying to justify it. I'd rather that than a very obvious back track.

What is his obsession with this issue ? Someone asks what would happen if the statement had been about Muslims. I have no idea what the 'alt-right' that people ask about in the last couple of pages of this thread might have said, but I'm sure the other people within his own party would have shut him down far sooner if similarly inflammatory remarks about muslims had been made by KL

The labour party makes a point about being against all types of bigotry and yet it seems to have a different set of rules about jews, a point made rather well in the article by David Baddiel linked to a page or so ago

I'd imagine he'd rather forget it all but he can't quite rightly as people want answers, so I don't think he is obsessed with it rather just obsessed with trying to explain why in a historical context some people think this happened.
