Elections tomorrow
Discussion
I've been quite surprised how hard it is to find out information about the PCC candidates for my area.
so
>(no flaming) I didn't actually know what region this covered for me.
> no information on the candidates from any party has been sent out.
> a google brings back nothing, only after quite a bit of digging did I find a site that has the detail on it
> I have just a single paragraph and a picture to decide if I like each candidate or not. Only one of them is stating a police background, for which I will probably vote, the rest seem to be politicians/councillors.
so not only is this a dubious post to vote for, but it's bloody difficult to get information on too!

I'm disappointed our incumbent, a sensible independent isn't standing.
So I have a choice
Lib Dem
Labour
Conservative
UKIP
Or 2 Independants
1 ex Superintendent
1 22 y/o Graduate
So no-one here to be trusted.
Student loan repayments can be costly and the salary is very good, so I don't blame them for trying. So I have a choice

Cheers for that, now i know which waste of space to vote for!https://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/
I went to vote. For me it was PCC only.
My wife and I walked as although there are parking spaces, they are always full. But not this time.
One woman was walking away from the voting station as we walked towards it. She gave us a cheery 'hello'.
At the station there were six people, in two groups of three. We got our voting papers, did the necessary, and then had a brief conversation with the staff there.
I said how pleased I was that we had missed the rush. We were, it seems, one of the fewer even than The Few. I mentioned the woman walking from the station. She had been, I was told, relieved of her duties at the station and was on her way home.
I asked if turnout was as poor as last time. I was told it was worse.
So whoever gets in (although it will be the tory woman) will be able to make decisions knowing that she has a mandate.
What a waste of money.
What a waste of the democratic process.

Wasn't there one in the first PCC election where the turn out was basically 2 people and there were 3 or 4 candidates or something so at least one candidate didn't even both to show up and vote?I asked if turnout was as poor as last time. I was told it was worse.
Sure Ian Hislop mentioned it on HIGNFY once.

Sound more like the rotten borough in Blackadder, where the voters were a farmer, his wife and their dachshund "Colin".Sure Ian Hislop mentioned it on HIGNFY once.

Police Authorities, which is what existed before PCCs, were mostly made up of councillors. they probably got extra expenses, tea and sandwiches but will not have been drawing a wage, nor did they require the expense of their own election.crankedup said:
Our patch and we have the right to elect our candidate for the post of Police Cime Commissioner.
It's wrong, but I really disagree ith the imposed policy of the post of PCC, therefore I have decided to abstain. Just me then?
PCC are a total waste of time in my view..... just another layer of political interference and bureaucracy.........basically just more jobs for the boys. Arguably the introduction of more and more city mayors is exactly the same too. It's wrong, but I really disagree ith the imposed policy of the post of PCC, therefore I have decided to abstain.
