Very open question, but what do you think the current M5 depreciation is like? Has it leveled out or is there still a way to go? Looking at buying a second hand one in the next few months, with the end of the production coming up are they likely to continue to fall, or firm up waiting for the new model?

From what I see the curve is levelling off now for the cars with the right spec, but cars with no options seem to be hanging around.

When the new model comes out next year, they'll fall even further, that much I can predict biggrin

What would be considered the right spec? I mean they're well equipped as standard anyway.

I waited until I found one with B&O and competition package. I would have also liked a reversing camera.

They will keep dropping in price just like all the previous generations of M5's. They seem to slow up when they approach about 7 years old.

That's the problem with used BMWs in general, and I think what you've said is a prime example of that; people can option something exotic (like B&O) but forget to add something relatively simple yet important like a reverse camera.

Agreed, though I can retro fit the reversing camera.
The competition package adds some good features, the best being the exhaust (I'm not sure my neighbours agree).

This car has my perfect spec. Competition package would be lovely as well but that would push it out of my price range/affordability. Just keep putting off advertising my E60 M5 as I still enjoy driving it. Don't want to trade mine in as I'll get stitched http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Quite often the prices firm up a bit when a new model is released or due out as a lot of magazines run articles on how much of a bargain the old model is .They then drop again ...

Great looking car, however I can't live with white leather, just gets grubby & tatty so quickly & easily! Got to be black for me.

I treated myself to a new M5 last week, (why not!) and that came fitted with Pirelli's.

The Pirellis were awful on mine, might be a bit better in the warmer dry weather we are now getting.
