A quick question about the driver cpc that's being asked on alot of jobs more specifically the van and the 7.5t jobs

I've done some pcv training (wanting a job till i get i pass on the pcv)

I've done Mod 1, 2 and 4 - the mod 3 in terms of pcv is the actual test itself.

however if i was to apply for a driver cpc in terms of those jobs - what else would i require? or is this something completely different?

I passed my driving test in may 96 hence have the d1 and c1 grades on my licence.

Its logged as hours on the system not individual modules and I think its 40 hours in total so in theory you could do module 5 (8) hrs 5 times and get your cpc card.
Mine lives in my truck.

You should get enough hours doing the training to gain your DCPC, our guys who have taken the C1 and higher have all had their card by the end of training

so if i'm learning to drive the bus - that should go towards my 35 hours of cpc?

from reading about it i've got my initial cpc and its just the 35 hours i need to do if i'm to do any driving on my d1 and c1?

Your Mods 1,2,3 & 4 are your initial CPC. When you've completed them & are now qualified, you'll get your DCPC card. You then have to do 35hours within the next 5 years to maintain your qualification.

Your 4 mods get you the licence to drive & DCPC card. It's valid for 5 years & you have to do 35 hours within the 5 years for it not to expire, but you're good to go when you've got the initial DCPC by successfully completing mods 1-4. (You can wait 4years 11 months if you like & do all 35hours in the last month before expiry or you can spread it out, however you like).

Indeed. When I did mine the only other bloke on the course sat there literally reading his paper all day long, ticked the tick test, passed, went home.

Courses can count, but only if appropriate and dealt with correctly beforehand. A two or three day ADR course can count, or so could a first aid course, but not retrospectively.

but what if i didnt do the pcv - which is the mod 3

i can still get the dcpc from the fact i've already got a licence from 1996? or do i have to do the courses in that case?

Sorry, If you've got vocational licence by virtue of grandfather rights (car test passed pre 1997) then you can gain your initial DQC card by one of two paths.
Passing mods 2 & 4 (you can only try this method once).
or
Completing 35 hours certified training.

with a pre 1997 licence all you need is 35 hours periodic dcpc not initial dcpc in order to get a DQC with both LGV & PCV on it although you would need to email https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to get the PCV put on it
