This might be just an Android thing, or it might not. Just recently, when using Earth on my Android tablet, zooming on just about any part of the UK reveals some apparently random green outlines. As you zoom in closer, they disappear. They look like they a demarking perimeters of something, but they don't necessarily follow roads, or apparent boundaries.

I'm wondering what they are, and assuming that somebody must know. I haven't seen the same thing on my PC.

What layers do you have turned on?

None, because layers aren't available in the app. I have 'roads and labels' ticked, and that hasn't changed.

I've no idea but I'm amazed at the detail on Google Earth

I was looking the other night and the image of our house has recently been updated after about a period of 5 years or so.

I zoomed in and bugger me I could see the dog pen I made last summer. This is a pen with a fence made out of 2"x 2" wood and I could very clearly see the fencing.

To clarify I live in the countryside in the SE of the U.K., not near any local interesting landmarks like Gatwick but it just made me think if the authorities are happy to release images of such detail to the public how bloody good must those be they take of parts of the earths surface they're really interested in!

You're doing better than me - on both of my Samsung tablets, when Google Earth zooms in the screen just goes black. Maps works fine - including satellite view - but Earth doesn't.

Click on the green part of the feature. What does it say?

I think you are using Google Maps not Earth. Green marks like those are for cycling routes.

It is part of the roads layer. When you untick roads they disappear. Which should help tie it down.

Noting. And when I zoom in further, the green bits disappear.

No, I'm not

Earth

Maps

And they're not cycle routes, because every one of them is circular

Yep just looked in another area and I'm getting the same in Google Earth, lines go through buildings etc so can not be cycle routes. Weird.

And it doesn't happen on a PC.

Having read the title of this thread, I was hoping to see a definitive answer as I noticed this the other day on my new Samsung S2.

Dammit, will have to wait (or do some digging myself)

Sorry, I don't do answers or advice. I'm just here to make the place look nice.
