Hofer ahead in the polls, but then they have not been so reliable of late.

I look forward to the outcome, it will be interesting to see if a traditionally right of centre country moves to the right and what that would bring regarding an exit of Austria from the EU.

An interesting time in politics.
IIRC Norbert doesn't want to leave the EU though....

He seems quite anti EU or was that just posturing to get the vote?

If the result was fraudulent last time, what have they done to prevent another botched election?

Wasn't it irregularities rather than fraud counting postal votes early and counting votes without the scrutineers always in the room? Presumably everything done by the book, everyone in the room.

I hope so. If I remember correctly there were thousands of votes counted for people that didn't exist?

I'm not sure I understand but Hofer seems to have conceded defeat on the strength of the exit polls?

Does anyone know are more?

Excellent news. First signs of the alt right surge faltering. The Austrians still have some sense it seems.

Oh FFS - are you still on here? I was hoping you'd left to troll some other forum?

The consensus I have seen from the talking heads is that either way this vote went, the far right freedom party is on course for power in the general elections coming next year. I would suggest you don't jump the gun on Austria just yet.

You don't appear to haven't got the faintest clue what an 'Alt Righter' is.

It'll be interesting to see the full results - turnout especially.

Yes no doubt we will see large demonstrations and riots on the streets because they don't like the democratic result. And will be claiming everyone that didn't vote like them are thick and stupid and saying how everyone was lied to.

Ho hang on no that just seems to be the left that do things like that.
If politicians do not deliver Brexit, the left will quickly understand how vocal the silent majority can get.

On Austria, it is an interesting result, but a ceremonial post and not nearly as important as Italy.
