So three broken promises from the Brexitears and it's not even Sunday laugh

- NHS gets £350m! Oh, actually it doesn't
- Immigration will be curbed! Oh, actually it won't
- We'll invoke article 50 immediately! Oh, actually we won't

I would simply give them the date. June 25th 2018.

Why do we need to bother with negotiations?

A bunch of unelected presidents said:
We stand ready to launch negotiations swiftly with the United Kingdom regarding the terms and conditions of its withdrawal from the European Union.
You stand ready????

Do sod off... tossers!

You have a £65Bn trade surplus with us. Wake up and smell the coffee. We will let you know if, and when we want to "negotiate".

Initially, I was not very happy with Cameron's resignation. I was looking forward to seeing the removal vans next Tuesday.

However, I now hope that he does stay in office until October.

While Cameron is still in office, they have no one to negotiate with. Each day that passes will give them an opportunity to consider the effects of losing a huge contributor. Each day that passes raises the possibility that another country will grant its people the right to express their opinion. Each day that passes gives Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW another chance to explain to Merkel that she must negotiate a trade deal with the UK.

The fear is palpable, and still they act like they are in charge. What a bunch of utterly clueless gobstes.

The Volkswagen share price fell 5.5% yesterday.

BMW fell 7.5% and is at the same price as 5 years ago.

Daimler (Mercedes) fell 8%.

The French (CAC) stock market fell 8%.

The IBEX (Spain) fell 12%.

The FTSE dropped 3%... to the same level that it was a week ago.

So, Schulz, Junker and Tusk... tell us why we should negotiate? You have until the 25th of June 2018 to come up with a good reason. From June 26th, 10% duty will be applied to all German cars.

Now, do me a favour and sod off. There is some footie on the telly.
Exactly, the old saying ' familiarity breeds contempt' could never be more appropriate.

Apart from the Leave campaign not being the government, which was pointed out ref Article 50 previously, and the fact that any EU membership fee of any size can't possibly be available as we're still in the EU, do think positively - at least the sky hasn't fallen in and WW3 hasn't started yet. Given the absolute truth of Remain's statements, you'd better stock up quickly in preparation for both.

FTSE 100 was up 2% on the week according to the DT.
Quite. In fact, I pointed this out yesterday. The BBC gleefully interpreted the same data as a 7% collapse.

Wrong.

Leave campaign proposed an additional £100m
Immigration will be controlled once we exit.
We will invoke article 50 as soon as we have a new PM, nobody stated it would be immediately.

Calm down calm down.

Gosh, I really worry about the blood pressure of some on here. Having had a dose of economic scaremongering EVERY SINGLE DAY from the Remain camp I doubt that you have much to get on your high horse about.

Cameron was the man who said he would invoke article 50 immediately. I didn't believe him then and I am glad he hasn't done that. I am also glad he chose to resign in the timeframe he has. Despite what you may think of him, he has enough sense to understand what will be best for the UK now we have decided to leave the EU and had the common sense to carry that out.

Controlled immigration was what leave wanted, and that is what we will now have. None of the leave campaign were asking for no immigration, Farage included.

£350 million a week was not what the leave group were saying would go to the NHS, I did see a commitment to increase NHS spending as part of the benefit of no longer paying the EU.

It's 2 years from the date of the Section 50 - so more like October 2018.
Is the "2 years" fixed?

If it is a maximum, then I would give 6 months notice.

£65Bn trade imbalance means that we should have an extra £3Bn a year coming into the coffers. The sooner we take advantage of this, the better.

Does anyone else think that this is a particularly good idea?

Our negative trade balance is offset by our positive services balance, so both sides are incentivised to do a practical deal. Aligned interests are a good basis for a sensible negotiation.

I can only admire your boss' agility. I hope the negotiators are this agile. If not, perhaps you can ask him to apply for their jobs.

My house is worth less.
Are you planning on selling soon? If you are downsizing, or leaving the UK housing market and emigrating, lower house prices are a bad thing. If you are planning on moving "up the ladder", lower house prices are a good thing. If you are staying put, who cares as long as your mortgage rate hasn't changed?

My pension has fallen in value.
Are you drawing your pension now in Sterling, but you live offshore? If so, your pension HAS been affected.

Are you drawing your pension now and it is directly linked to share values (in other words, you do not have an annuity)? If so, your pension HAS been affected. It may even have gone up, depending on the shares that it is valued against.

Are you in the process of turning a pension into an annuity? If so, you may have lost, but annuities are usually bought over a period and not bought on a "bad" day.

Are you paying into a pension fund and are worried about the FUTURE value of that pension? There are people investing that fund who regularly lose more in a hour than happened since Friday. They don't tell you about it because they make up the losses and turn it into profit within the week. As long as the fund profits by an acceptable amount over the 40-year period, who cares what happens in a week?

I ordered some parts for my German car that have to come from the factory in Germany. The price in Sterling is the same today as it was last year.

I visited Aldi (a shop that imports nearly all its stock from the continent). Prices are the same, or less, than last week.

I'm not saying that the prices won't increase. On the contrary, I expect that they will. They just haven't increased yet.

When they do, then, and only then, will I have been affected.

My head is not in the sand about what may happen. I am getting myself prepared. I have hedged Euros, Dollars and Gold. If anything, I am richer today than I was on Thursday, but I'm not panicking to sell or to buy. I'm waiting for stabilisation - and drinking tea until the dust settles smile

I am sooo looking forward to seeing that on YouTube. I hope that the camera stays focussed on Schulz's face while he explains our negotiation strategy.

Hannan might have a word to say as well. He will be much more conciliatory, but even more effective.

Are we obliged to give them 2 years notice? Or, is that the maximum?
Maximum once Art50 notice served I believe.
If the exit terms have not been agreed within two years it can be extended with the agreement of all members states.

I'm perfectly calm, I'm just pissing myself at the backlash coming from the duped when BoJo, Gove & IDS are scrabbling about trying to work out what the fk to do as they didn't think they'd have to deliver the back of a fag packet scribbled with a bookies pen master plan

The other bonus is, the Union will shortly be in its death throes

LOL. There no chance whatsoever that Scotland would vote to leave the UK when we are not in the EU. None whatsoever.

Trust me.

Watch Tusk, Schulz and Junker change their tune over the next few days. They are currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. Other countries are already raising the prospect of referenda, and the next "final" Greek bailout is due in a few weeks. The whole thing is collapsing around them. They would love to "make an example" of Britain to deter other countries, but our trade deficit makes that impossible.

Look at the stock market info that I posted earlier. The Brexit vote has had a devastating impact on European stock markets, while the FTSE is doing very well, thank you.

They have far more to lose than we do. Our negotiating stance should reflect that.

Maybe, but whose to say Scotland will be out of the EU even when England & Wales are?

Why should it be you who is concerned at '....the backlash coming from the duped' ?. I'm not concerned at all, voters know that politicians (of all colours) can be a little economical with the truth. I'm quite sure that a lot of Osborne's silly scaremongering had a load of inaccurate information - voters clearly saw through that too.
