Is this the same Venezuelan economic model so championed by John Mcdonnell?
I was wondering if anyone had asked John McDonnell, Jeremy Corbyn or Diane Abbott how they thought it was going in their favourite socialist utopia.
To answer my own question. John McDonnell said the problem was it's not socialist enough

This is a man who says he wants to bring down capitalism, and welcomed the credit crunch.

I think with May in charge, labour don't feel they're needed..

Because the economy is doing so badly...or because we have mass unemployment?

Corbyn and McDonnell heap praise on the Venezuelan system yet it's economy is fked even though it has huge natural resources.

The problem is that these idiots have absolutely no understanding of economics at all. If you let them get in charge they fk stuff up.

When you place ideology above practical results for the population this is what you get.

I hear you loud and clear, but I have enough intelligence to try and assess the picture for myself, and when it comes to an election, I’ll vote for whoever I think will do the country some good, and if I’m lucky, do me some good too.
The great unwashed however, having discovered that their fags, booze, and burgers have gone up by 10p each a pop, while their Gyro has only risen by 5p, will descend on their polling stations, cheerfully belting out the Red Flag.
If you told them to be careful, the country could end up like Venezuela, most will look puzzled, and say “Venez Waylar?, doesn’t he play for City?”
The others will say, “What, hot and sunny do you mean?, bring it on!”

To be clear, I probably despise Corbyn's Labour as much as you, as I am what could be called a 'natural conservative', in that I work, pay tax and want minimal state interference in me and my family's life.

I would also never again vote for May's version of a conservative government, a government that enforces blasphemy laws in all but name, amongst other things.

"He (McDonnell) said Mr Chevez’s Bolivarian revolution "lit a spark" across the world and claimed "the lives of millions of Venezuelans have been transformed" by his controversial policies."

Well he isn't wrong on that score.

regular deportations of venezuelan smugglers or illegal entrants down here in TnT - this used to be so infrequent as to be a non-news thing.

the US military are here at the end of april for "Fused Response" which, is reported to be an opportunity to play out "realistic scenarios" which will "test regional stability".

venezuela has long accused the US of having military/economic designs within her borders and this exercise just 12 miles offshore should trigger the usual storm of complaints and invective from caracas

I know what you mean. My MP is a fat, lazy slob who does nothing for the local community. May's government - come to that, Cameron's as well, if not more so if that is possible - seems to go from one disaster to the next. The infighting, with MPs going for their own furtherance regardless of the damage it does to the party, is appalling. Yet what are the options?

In my town the DM outsells other newspapers 3:1 (down from 5:1 from 5 years ago) on a Sunday. My vote is wasted.

My fear is that the disaster that is May is probably the best thing Corbyn has going for him. If post brexit isn't the nirvana that people wanted then the only option is to vote labour.

Once the far left are in power, they're almost impossible to get rid of.

Yep, fit only for bullying their own defenceless (and starving) civilians.

I see it’s being reported that you can buy 3.5 million litres of petrol for $1 there now.

At least something to look forward here when labour get in. My currently worthless V8 super saloon will keep me in coke and hookers ultil it drops off.
