I would say something called "Operation Black Vote" is absolutely about race - it's about getting a specific demographic out to vote, sounds like it's very much so about race to me, regardless of any motives the publishers may or may not have. Either way it's a big fat "meh" from me.

Maybe to keep the more sensitive amongst us happy they could have my 83 year old (white, English) grandma sat on one side and a beardy, death to the west, brown chap on the other side, y'know, foe balance. silly

What has this got to do with #Brexeunt?

I don't see the ad supporting a vote either way. I also don't see an Indian lady as being more or less likely to vote one way or the other. She's not clearly depicting 'Europe' is she, so why is this a Remain campaign trick??

I think the ad is excellent fwiw. It uses two different stereotypes but takes no position of it's own beyond saying they have an equal vote. On anything being voted on. It's not about immigration, the EU or anything else. What is clear is that some people will conflate it with current affair and maaaaaybe just project a little bit. hehe

This advert easily qualifies for a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority. If the roles were reversed it would immediately be denounced as racist. A neutral advert certainly wouldn't have one of the figures involved being threatened by the other. It arguably goes far enough to be accused of inciting racial hatred. It is a shameful piece of work.

(Edited to add) It seems that politically-motivated advertising in non-broadcast media has an exemption from the remit of the ASA.

It's an odd image.

I get that the message is that everyone has an equal vote but why does the white guy have to be an aggressive skinhead? It looks more like this is a vote against racism, the Indian lady has an equal vote to the racist, it looks more like an opportunity for minorities to vote against racists.

It's funny you should say that as I've heard that some of the more extreme right are actually recruiting from the Eastern European arrivals.

It's clever. I'd agree with poster above about it being emotive, but when you think about it not at all. Perhaps, using an Austrian voter was a bit strong though.

One thing I'm noticing, as this tiresome campaign continues is how paranoid the Brexiters are becoming. Everything is a conspiracy theory. Reading too much Tom Clancy and not enough Occams Razor? Comments re the IMF last week were true of this, and then on Monday Lagarde gives Merkel a diplomatic black eye, kinda (although not over yet, and I know I'll get countered on Debt Relief can be measured in light years etc etc).

No but neither is Australia which doesn't stop my brother (a dual national) from voting. Or his wife, originally Yugoslavian then Croatian then British and now Australian (tri-national) Or my nephew. Who hasn't lived in the UK since he was 12.
Out of interest when are immigrants allowed to vote? I was chatting to a Polish bloke who lives here with family and he said he couldn't.

How could the roles be reversed? they are either end of a See Saw, would it matter to you which way they are facing? From the demographics that seem to be reported surely both the lady and the thug are equally likely to vote leave, in which case their votes are equally as valid - or exactly what it says on the tin.

There does seem to be a lot of seeing outrage where there is none

Perhaps he's gay and is berating the conservative homophobic lady of Asian origin for her opinions expressed against his identity?
Or maybe he's pissed off because her and uncle Ajay promised him they'd take him to Alton Towers.

So the funny looking foreigner on the right is a ska enthusiast, and the true blue Brit on the left is into sitar music. Only one way to sort it out....fight!
