According to R4 earlier, the EU is ruining the Curry Industry in the UK as "traditionally", cooks came from Bangladesh.

But now they're all coming from Eastern Europe, particularly Remainia. The writing is on the walls people.

Or something.

Indeed, is there no end at being offended on behalf of others?

What has this got to do with #Brexeunt?

I don't see the ad supporting a vote either way. I also don't see an Indian lady as being more or less likely to vote one way or the other. She's not clearly depicting 'Europe' is she, so why is this a Remain campaign trick??

I think the ad is excellent fwiw. It uses two different stereotypes but takes no position of it's own beyond saying they have an equal vote. On anything being voted on. It's not about immigration, the EU or anything else. What is clear is that some people will conflate it with current affair and maaaaaybe just project a little bit. hehe
Was about to type something similar, probably less eloquently. Says quite a lot more about people 'offended' by this than anything else.
Very entertaining.

The usual suspects - no doubt a few more inbound. The objective of the ad is clear, but some will want to look elsewhere.

They are having a debate about this on LBC! Have to admit whilst I thought the advert was odd - I didn't think it was pro-Leave or pro-Remain. And i'm a Leaver. Having said that I can see how you might think it is associating the 'skinhead' with Brexiters if you are from a certain background. Then again a Polish friend of mine thought the 'skinhead' was an Eastern European thug! So I think it is a divisive advert.

Odd, as in unusual, pretty much. It's hardly new. These are the posters from GE campaign.

The aim was to get people talking, according to S&S. What I do fail to see, is how is this 'pro-EU'.

Don't disagree. I'm sure the marketing w@nkers will be cracking open the champagne as we argue over this!

Indeed.

If by 'usual suspects' Mermaid Sam means 'people who are not too thick to understand an advert' then absolutely - more than happy to be included in the group!

Yes, the objective is clear. The objective is to encourage a group who are often under-represented at the polling booths to use their vote. The referendum is very important (apparently) and it would be a piss-poor show if our future relationship with Europe (whatever way it falls) were decided by just over half of, say, 30% of the voting population.

laugh Oh the irony.

How did you come to that conclusion? A racial stereotype by any chance? What would lead you to believe that she was not born and raised in Europe and would by most definitions be considered European?
Because, given her age and the historic timeline of immigration from the Indian sub-continent, she's very very likely to be a first-generation immigrant and therefore not born in Europe.

could just as easily be a recent arrival over here come to be taken care of by her family (they having arrived quite some time ago) wink

WRT to your other quote about 30% deciding our fate... I agree in principle. I suspect that the one way that would guarantee a vote one way or t'other would be for remain/exit to say that the other side was going to ban all 'reality' or 'talent' shows - then all the slack jawed fkwits would be rushing to vote!
