Hi all,

Just had my C63 (14 model) for around 7 weeks and 1000 miles (total mileage 4900) and it appears the head gasket has gone...?!!

Driving down motorway, about 4 miles from home, thankfully, and plumes of grey / blue smoke just piles out of the back! I'm talking a serious amount here! Got off motorway and after slowing down the smoke cleared, but upon stopping there was steam coming from the bonnet!

Mercedes assistance called out and now car has been taken away for further testing. Gutted!! The oil was really clear but at the low level. Really surprised as previous owners had it serviced at Mercedes, even though it didn't need it, before I bought it.

What does this sound like to the more experienced? I can't help but think head gasket. The car is still like new and after having Audis for years, this is my first Merc. Can't believe my luck! Is this is a known problem or have I just been unlucky? Also, any ideas what it might be?

cheers,
Andrew

OP, have you had an oil leak somewhere that's caused some over heating?

Surely it's under warranty ?

Has the car any history ?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it's under warranty. Not even 2 years old yet and only done 4900 miles.

Thought HG because there was some milking around the dip stick cap and also because of amount of grey smoke coming from exhaust. It was like a scene from an F1 race when one of the cars engine blows. From nothing to instant plumes of the stuff trailing down the motorway.
It's now at mercedes waiting for testing on Tuesday 😐

I know on a Porsche it's a sure sign of air oil seperated failure. Not sure if the merc has the same system though.

Quick Google seems to suggest it has an air oil separator.

Haha. I had every intention of enjoying the performance of this car Max Torque, but never got the chance. It had spent some time unused before I bought it so I opted to coax the thing before giving it the beans.. however...

So what will be the prognosis for this? I've had a very poor experience from Mercedes-Benz so far but I'm hoping they turn my experience around.
I had a faulty front tyre valve and merc Chester introduced me to Mercedes after sales by arguing with me that it might not be a genuine valve and may not be covered! I couldn't believe it! They took 2 hrs to replace it and then took my car for a good ragging (left with 84 miles in the tank and returned with 14)!

I was told my car would be put in a secure compound when collected, but when I checked it was just left in the main car park covered in bird sh*t in the baking sun! (This car is immaculate with no swirl marks due to proper zymol waxing).

On top of this, I was left for 2hrs at europcar as they lost my car and then issued me with some turd Brown disability Peugeot even though I had another C class clearly on my booking confirmation.

Not the best of starts with a new brand!

For those of you interested. The problem turned out to be gearbox gasket. The smoke was the oil leaving onto the exhaust. I'm pleased to say that all was resolved and my little beauty is back roaring with delight smile

I love this car! to those that said every drive is an event. Spot on!!
