Yet the government think they know how many people are coming to the uk.

Theres probably a hundred of these boats per night coming in to the uk
Hmm... so that'll be the whole population of Albania every five years or so then?
At the moment there are thousands of people coming - just go to calais and see people on the road side, its never ending.

Go to a northern town centre in the day and you will hear as many foreign people as english people

Not wishing to debate the immigrant aspect but can you imagine someone entering the East US/Russia or any other country, crossing it and getting a boat at the furthest point to sail to an island off the other end of the country?

Because I'm in that kind of mood tonight! Because that's a media item released by NCHQ/MOD Media Ops types. Rarely at sea, no idea, should know better. Admiralty Manual of Seamanship is just as bad, I just checked!!

I'm still correct, I just am. You know I am.

I agree with ALL of your sentiments regarding the financial mess we are in, and am as fked off as you are with the whole immorality of it all - also due to my own personal circumstances and concerns about my young son and his generation, and so on.

The UK is fked, but not many can see it. So long as the plebs can "afford" their monthly payments for their mortgages, their leased white Audi S Line diesel, their latest iPhone and so on; they don't give a fk.

But I also believe immigration is a very real and serious issue, not to mention the gradual Islamification of Europe.

You were doing well until you trotted out the old leasing and Islamification line.

Just had a lovely barbecue tonight. My leased Scirocco R is sitting on the drive, and my Muslim best friend helped me cook.

The world didn't end.

ETA: just saw you that refer to anybody making mortgage repayments as a 'pleb'. You're quite a delight.

Yes plenty of those fabled doctors and engineers I'd wager. FFS. What is happening to this fking country?!
What's happening to this country is that our politicians (of all hues) have become staggeringly effective at using trivial things like a little bit of immigration - whether illegal or not - to distract the populace from the fact that they're utterly fking hopeless at addressing the important stuff, such as the astronomical cost of health, welfare & pensions for people born here.
Bullst. Dig your head out the sand - this is a Europe-wide issue, very real and happening now.

We will get what is due - we have allowed this to happen.
The NHS currently costs around £2,000 per annum for every single man, woman and child in the country, and it's only going up.

The State Pension costs around £2,800 per person, and it's going up even faster.

The remainder of our welfare bill excluding pensions is around £3,000.

So just on those things alone, before we consider defence, infrastructure projects, policing or anything else, we're looking at nearly £8k for every man, woman and child to run the country.

Thing is, not every man, woman or child is a taxpayer, are they? I worked the above out using a population of roughly 60 million, but only half that number are taxpayers, so just health and welfare alone are costing £16k per taxpayer per annum.

And you think I'm the one with my head stuck in the sand???

The government must bloody love you!!! You just keep telling yourself that some Albanians in a boat are our biggest problem, 'cause heaven forbid you'd look at the state of the nation's finances, upon which the impact of migrants is but a mosquito bite!

If things carry on the way they are now, how long do you think it will be before the good people of Albania are complaining about people slipping over the border with Montenegro, carrying their only possessions in a couple of battered Waitrose Bags for Life?

Immigration into this country is completely and utterly trivial compared to the way in which the generations since the war have voted for an endless succession of governments telling them they can have everything they want, because their children and grandchildren will pay for it. Well guess what? We're very close to the point at which those grandchildren are going to be saying "fk you, you made your own mess, sort it out yourselves, because we're off to live somewhere without the insane tax burden you've assumed we're going to carry for you".

I've never driven one but the DC5, lovely as she was, was showing her age - and I believe she was a nice example. I don't think I could do a DC2 as a daily driver.

DC2 probably better on a track - never been on one, though!

Well, obviously...they're all Northerners.

Not proper English at all.

They've had comedy indecipherable accents, bizarre local customs and deeply-held anger management issues ever since the Normans arrived from continental Europe and civilised most of the Southern half of the country.

No idea - the whole western world as we know it is going down the pan. Besides, why should I have to go anywhere? A return back to some common sense and moral values would be a start.

AND HOW IS ALLOWING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF USELESS IMMIGRANTS IN TO THE COUNTRY GOING TO HELP WITH ANY OF THAT?

Start with the basics shall we? If we can't secure our own borders, we're just st.
