The media have dragged poor Javid back from his holiday. What is he supposed to do?, unless there is a change of policy more patrol boats just means more transportation to the UK and more migrants setting off in rubber dinghies.
"Poor Javid" is the Home Secretary. A mass disregard for immigration laws seems worth calling him about.

What he could do is say that the boats should be turned back and not allowed to land, and that he will be seeking to ensure as soon as possible that illegal entry will never lead to being legally in the country, and those illegally here will be deported.

What I don't get is why these young 'fighting fit age' men are fleeing their country(ies) if they oppose any oppressive regime in power.
Surely get together and make a stand to fight back.

What will these countries eventually become if there is no resistance?

Do you think it's ok to break immigration laws and then be allowed to stay anyway?

The government or the illegal immigrants?

The migrants. If they entered illegally they should not be allowed to stay. That should be made very clear in words and actions.

They should be towed back to Calais then arrested by the French, only way to deter them.

He could do that, which is exactly how Australia dealt with the situation, but would require authorisation from the PM.

As things stand more patrol boats just means more migrants in dinghies setting off to be "rescued".

I'm surprised MSF haven't drafted in their boat that is surplus to requirements in the Med.
The frogs must be well happy at moving the problem on - can they legally stop the migrants from buying rubber dinghies & leaving? What would be their incentive?

That's not what he said.

Presumably you don't think France is a safe place?

Most of the population of the UK are the decendants of migrants. Most of whom arrived by boat.

All of the population of the UK are descended from Migrants as are the inhabitants of all regions outside Africa, the question is how far back that happened.

For most of us here in the UK that is 4,000 years as is then that virtually all of the population of the UK was displaced by new arrivals who adopted the Iberian culture, which included pottery, hence "Beaker people"

Yes them Norman's and Vikings coming here raping, pillaging and enslaving the indigenous population making the life of many a living hell if they were lucky to even survive.
Is that what you mean?

Interesting link.

It does say the Beaker people only replaced a majority of the existing population.

Is the map a picture of the Boris bridge?

The last invaders to leave a significant genetic impact were the Anglo-Saxons and even then they do not constitute the majority in the areas they settled, though they did of course completely displace the ruling class in virtually all of England.
