Anyone had a dropped kerb fitted?
Discussion
Do you have any input into the exact positioning of it? Or do the workmen turn up while you're at work and, as they are wont to do, stick it where they think best.
I'm asking as I would like to apply for a narrow dropped kerb as shown in the pic in front of a post office. I want to be able to park my scooter between our houses, and I would want the drop fitted centrally to the two houses. I would remove the central portion of the wall and fit a gate as per the post office pic. (Site lines etc are all ok according to the regs so I'm hopeful I would get permission)
(There's a TCSU cover which is almost in the way, is this a bt / phone line cover anyone know? It has a BT cover in line with it a bit further up about 3 feet away)
Thanks

Upon making an application to the council, a surveyor will come out to have a look, and will mark out the proposed crossover in spray paint.
Looking at your example, I'm not sure that the council will agree to a crossover, as strictly speaking you don't have anywhere for a vehicle to go on your property.
But if I was in your situation, I wouldn't bother with getting one put in and save on the costs. Getting a scooter up the kerb shouldn't really be a problem.

Well for a car the hard standing area should normally be 4.8 by 2.4 metres but there are no specs anywhere for a motorcycle. I can say that I will keep it in the back garden (down the alley) so hopefully that won't be a reason to prevent authorisation. Since posting I've seen that the services have to say whether it's possible so that cover may have an effect.
I'd rather do it legally and permanently than just wheeling it in, if possible.
