Oil leak

Hello all

I'm after a bit of advice (? Diagnosis) on a small oil leak on my 2.9 S3. It seems to be coming from the back of the engine somewhere and is running down the bell housing and dripping onto the exhaust - it's not a lot, maybe a couple of drops on the garage floor after it's been stood for a couple of days.

I know this might sound strange, but if the car has been out for a run, it tends to leave a spot on the driveway after being stood for just a couple of minutes (enough time to get out of the car and open the garage door) but then doesn't seem to drop more than say 3 or 4 drips after being left for a few days.

I've had the car about 15 months and it doesn't seem to be any worse than when I first got the car.

Any thoughts? I've read that the o-ring can fail on the distributor. Is this as good a place as any to start and if so, what do I need?

I agree, it's a bit unusual that it's only leaking a couple of drops.

A new O ring.




Ford part No. F1490140, still available hopefully, I bought a couple in 2014

a number of us have chased this leak- did the o-ring twice to no avail

mine was cured when the inlet manifold was replaced
