Approving the terms of the settlement, High Court family judge Mr Justice Cobb, sitting in London, said: 'I am perfectly satisfied that it is reasonable, and that the wife is entitled to receive a modest capital award following the breakdown of this marriage.

'The lump sum payment agreed between the parties fairly represents, in my view, a realistic and balanced appraisal of the unusual circumstances of this case.'

To be expected and nothing new following rulings saying distant gold digging ex wives have a right to share a similar proprtion of ex husbands lottery wins 20 odd years down the line.

£500k may seem alot but only 114th of his guestimated business worth.

Comedy gold Daily Wail reporting regarding her eldest daughter.....burglar, cokehead and prostitute all in one.....I blame absent fathers ...biggrin:

the law is so fked up in favor of women in the case of finances and of children.... and greedy bhes like this use it to inflict more financial and emotional pain on their ex'es.

Lesson is get a full and final settlement of ancillary relief and make sure the money grabbers cannot get any of your fortune in the future.

I walked away from everything so I could get a final settlement, brand new £60K caravan, house, cars all assets etc... 6 years later she has sold everything and spunked it up the wall buying pandora bracelets and other tat, she has tried to get hold of my current savings etc all to be told to fk off... gold digging bh!

Having divorced over a decade ago this had me worried initially. However, looking at the payout compared to this guy's worth means if my money grabbing ex came after me she'd get about threppance h'appeny.

Just a clever way for the state to free up a council house imo

Only when I see a successful claim made by a homeless bloke against his wealthy ex wife will I believe there is no bias

Presumably the guy didn't get a clean break divorce, or were the 'legalisticals' different?

It's fairly local to me and local radio are speculating how much she'll get after legal and other costs, and the view seems to be 'not that much'.

it was £300k AND her legal fees of £200k on top of that - certainly enough to buy a small gaff somewhere
