There are also many positive interviews and media reports from the USA and other parts of the world.

Shame they are not being shown here.

Anyone still pay their TV licence?
After being witness to the BBCs shockingly one sided reporting and virtual campaigning throughout the run up to the referendum and their continuing abuse of their position, I will admit, this is the first time in my life I have actually considered Refusing top pay simply on principal.

My point is that university courses teach you the skills needed for and gives you experience in research, analysis and critical thinking. It has nothing to do with intelligence or even knowledge.

It therefore doesn't really matter which subject you study; the mere fact that you've spent 3 or 4 years studying it at undergraduate level will tend to give you better abilities in those areas than someone who hasn't spent 3 or 4 years doing it.
In theory perhaps!

The admissions criteria for noddy courses are not necessarily the same as, for example, astrophysics (physics and astronomy) at St Andrews. The raw meterial is completely different. This choice of that degree at St A for comparison was made because it has a high entry tariff.

Also the intellectual horsepower required to stay on a course such as astrophysics at St Andrews is going to be higher than a noddy course because the level of intellectual demand is different for a student to stand a chance of surviving.

If the point was an examination of the relative position of a history degree at one red-brick compared to a geography degree at another red-brick then there would be more of a basis for considering the process of getting a place and then making it through each degree course to be broadly equivalent, but that's not what we're considering.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/9545232/Stude...

Astrophysics at UCL (the Preston one) takes people on for astrophysics with a B in physics among other subjects with good grades, and kicks a few off along the way.

Where the entry level is 80 points (EE) the comparison with astrophysics at St Andrews (360 points, AAA) is barely valid at all, barring an Oxbridge matriculation (EE) offer after a rigorous selection process.

Horrible, I normally wouldn't listen to LBC on account of "she who shall not be named" but I listened to that clip and was saddened.

Another incident with her of the telly being racialy abused...

We have LAWS and a Police force to use, why call a radio station and not the Police ?

Why are the Police not active and effective in these cases ?

Because the police will keep it quiet and confidential apart from those involved in their enquiries one way or another.

Those involved may indeed have notified police but this ^ is why we may not know as yet until the radio caller passes on that snippet of info when they're invited onto BBC Breakfast.

I think the key word in my post is "considered" , although that said if you do decide to simply watch netflix, or catch up Tv programmes or anything thats not being watched/recorded as its broadcast etc I beleive that you can opt out of the licence fee sham and deprive the BBC of their funding.
The Tv licence fee... now theres a referendum on a subject I would actually pay the licence fee to view the BBC reporting on it ..... laughlaughlaugh

I am always amazed when I hear you lot speak of a "T.V. tax"; that sounds absolutely bonkers to us over here. smile

Glad we got there in the end.
Have you? You were previously saying that the downgrade would increase borrowing costs - you've finally accepted that you were wrong?
No, but you finally recognised the significance of the double downgrade.

Your insult proved it was hard for you to do.

Le Penn! FFS!!!

Are you surprised!?! A bunch of neo Nazi racist idiots, you might as well have the BNP up there.

I cannot believe you really think a speech from Le Penn praising the UK is a good thing, it makes me ashamed to be British and saddens me to my very core.

Then it would be abandoned, and an extra 5% VAT put on TVs. They will make you pay.
