'They' don't want money to go to the failed EU political project.

Trading goods and services with other countries, including EU countries, makes us all richer.

Buying British manufactured cars/ products will encourage money to stay in the UK and help growth - damaging our undemocratic lovelies in the EU?
It's not the other businesses in the EU which are undemocratic.

Who said Brexiters didn't want money to go to Europe, we don't want to give money to Europe but we don't mind trading.

After all we are a nation of shopkeppers

Not quite what I meant. The Honda Civic (Swindon), Nissan Note/ Qashquai (spelling), MINI, Rolls Royce, Lotus etc., will all put money into the UK economy rather than into the EU economy. I dread to think how much money we give to BMW/ Audi (Germany) each week and put into their economy?

So how many Brexitters will support UK manufacturing?

I'd say most of these big multinationals are using Brexit as an excuse to leave the UK.

Unfortunately, German businesses are in Germany. Thus they will pay German corporation tax. Their employees will pay German income tax and German VAT (plus whatever taxes there are) These taxes are collected by Merkel and then spent on undemocratic EU projects at will.

How much does the UK spend per week with BMW and Audi? Quite a lot, I think, as it was frequently given as a reason the EU would never allow tariffs for BMWs/ Audis into the UK because of the volume.....

So why don't Brexitters buy British manufactured goods?

smile Nice one - didn't check your garage before posting smilesmile But on a random sample of 5 Brexiters in this thread not one had a British manufactured car (other than one classic Healey - very nice too - but I suspect the people who manufactured that are long gone frown )

You can probably get a half decent signal on Vodafone elsewhere in Europe. It's a bag of ste in the North of England

Isn't the Healey brand now owned by BMW?

If you think that supporting Brexit means you can only buy UK goods and services, you're very confused!

Probably (or the Chinese?). But I think it was an Austin Healy 3000 which was British made.

Si,

I am not saying BMWs and Audis will not be available in the UK. We, as a nation, should support buying UK goods and services. By this we will generate greater tax returns in this country (and not EU countries) to then spend on the NHS, education, reducing taxes or whatever we wish to do. This will make us more successful as a nation on our own. Siphoning money into other economies will not enable us to prosper and grow as a nation on our own. It is a mechanism to make Britain better.

I do accept that many of the profits will return to the home of the owner of the companies, but the knock-on effects to other supporting industries (Steel industry for example) will bring greater tax returns in Britain.

I am not confused, just worried that Brexitters (in general smile ) do not fully understand economics, which was ably demonstrated on another thread I participated in about trade deals.

This has always been the case (so not specially for the current situation we are in). However, it would really help make our country prosper. If 50% of BMW buyers in Britain turned to Jaguar/ Land Rover, the difference to UK tax returns would be fairly immense (sorry I cannot quantify this....but it seemed okay to provide fictional figures during the build-up to the referendum - from both side before anyone jumps down my throat!) Unless Brexitters do not want this?

Mike
