No way did I want to start yet another Brexit thread, so I will slip this in here

Heard so many awkward questions answered with so much flimflam, but the best unadulterated quote came from the Boss of Wetherspoons. When asked about his opinion regarding the Political noise from the 'remain' camp. His reply was a National television gem, 'well it's all politicians isn't it, talking a load of bks'' biggrin

I do so admire captains of industry, or more correctly self made businessmen, speak out in plain English.

You have my attention, just what exactly is it that you are planning to reverse the democratic vote?
I think the outcome of brexit negotiations - if handled professionally - will make that almost inevitable, and a vehicle for confirming what is best for the country will be developed in a way that is not seen to ignore the recent vote.

That is unless the tories put a mentalist lightweight like Leadsom in as PM. Then anything could happen.

But I suspect they won't.

May is seen as the considered safe pair of hands needed to calm everyone down - a symbol of reason, and perhaps liberty at a stretch. smile

How does this latest bit of drivel answer the question put to you?

What a horrible divisive sign, by not having it in every other language. Did they not think about how exclusionist and isolating it could be to others who don't read english.

Horrible when will people start thinking of others.
Oh, come on, be fair, they haven't got the hang of English yet.

She can't get it right in English, so I think you're pushing it a bit far...

This is a good sign.

I wonder how we will end up if we just become a free port.

Though his money comes from blokes that spend all afternoon in the pub, so perhaps he's not a typical businessman.

It's definitely dying away though. The reality that they have lost and we are leaving the EU is sinking in.

Brexit will be the new austerity or maybe even the new Thatcher for years, but it is a reality.
I really don't get why people are still convinced we're not going to leave? confused

Are they not listening to every single leadership candidate?
Well, I don't recall any single leadership candidate or any respected business, economic or financial body, or leader of any other nation telling us leaving was a good idea in the first place and it would lead to chaos. The people seem happy to have not listened to any of their warnings then and voted out anyway. Surprise surprise, the world seems to be going to hell in a hand cart just as predicted.

It's why we're in the mess. No political party thought it was a good idea, none expected it to happen and none have any plans for it happening. Apart from maybe Nigel Farage, but the electorate forgot he doesn't have a political mandate in parliament.

If this is 'taking back control', I'm not sure I want it.
We are not in a mess. Why do you feel the need to post such a lie? I cannot believe that you can personally gain from talking your country down.

In case you haven't noticed, the stock market is actually higher than it was before you lost. The FTSE100 is stronger, and Britain's business are now worth more.

The Pound has dropped, so our exports are now cheaper. Thank God that we didn't get dragged into the Euro.

British car exports to Germany will stay at the same price, and the prices of German car imports will go up by 20%.

Mind you, the British unions will probably screw it up by refusing to go to work (again).

None of the above is long term. FTSE is now, it doesn't predict the future, if reacts. This hit my business has taken last week because of Brexit won't hit my suppliers for 6 months or so, but they will see reduced orders and fewer contracts of its the same in other sectors, I think we will see the impact spread over months or years rather than days.

There is a 1.7 Trillion Euro black hole in the Euro bank finances.

Be thankful you do not have to dig deep and pay for it.

We are not part of the European bank That comment is akin to saying be glad you aren't part of the Burkina Faso bank. Pointless.

Maybe you will see business and profits increase over that time period if you stop wishing for the end of the world.

I don't get this type of posts, they add nothing to the debate, 'wishing for the end of the world'? What?

It's not quite as simple as not wishing for the end of the world.

This is starting to affect people right now, without them doing any wishing one way or the other.

My main business is directly associated with new car sales via dealerships, and already people have been cancelling new car orders because of what they fear will happen economically in the very near future, so are hanging on to their existing car 'for a while longer'

My brothers business relies on building, construction and planning. He has had people put building projects on hold directly citing the referendum result.

My cousin and his girlfriend have just pulled out of the purchase of their first house, as he works in a big research centre in Cardiff which is directly funded by the EU, and they have all been told that it is highly likely the money will instantly dry up once we leave, so he's probably going to be out of a job.

Those are just me and my immediate family. There will be thousands more just like us who are starting to feel it already.

Dammit, you are right! All I need to do to stop the construction industry from imploding is to stop wishing for the end of the world!
I'm going to email my Directors first thing tomorrow, cheers!

Man up and have faith, you will survive and even thrive. smile Don't be so negative.

If you do not have faith, ask why more want to come to this country than are leaving - an option available to everyone.

Have faith? We've had three large projects cancelled last week already. I don't rely on faith - faith doesn't pay the mortgage.
You are correct though I will survive one way or the other as unlike millions of leave voters I at least have the education and skills - you could say I am one of those experts we are all fed up with now - to be able to go work abroad if needs. So I will be fine, one way or the other. Those poor sods in the North East or Wales?

Not at all, he is a top rate businessman, spotted a niche in the family market for people who enjoy a cheap but good pub meal in a decent environment. Converts old character buildings into new. Wetherspoons. You surely can't be knocking a successful entrepreneur, can you?? some posters in here seem to have a handy knack at negative comment.
