I'm loving how democracy is just fine when we want to 'divorce' from the EU, but democracy is not fine if Scotland, London or anywhere else in the UK wants to 'divorce' from the UK. In those cases, apparently it is just fine to send in the tanks and take them by force.
Ha, ha what tanks tank!

Build a wall on the inside of the M25. You have your own airport. You can keep your MP's; we'll find our own thanks. Off you go. We'll reposess your second and third homes in the countryside and let the young live there. Benefits all round.

PS You can have Luton too. All of it. Free!

There's enough skills, population and experience to make Greater London a viable entity. It's an equivalent population to Sweden for example.

The queen lives in London, she controls the Army. Therefore we'd take the bits we wanted (probably the South East) and grow crops or just import them with our massive wealth, airports and seaports...

Just need Her Maj to get on board now.
Er - I don't think you have quite grasped the detail of a Constitutional Monarchy yet bow

If the result had gone the other way, would the leave strong holds be bleating about the result not reflecting their view and be asking to leave the EU hence leaving London in?

I wouldn't for one, that's for sure. Talk about sour grapes.

Ah yes. Staffordshire, world-renowned for... pottery and JCBs.

Home to such delights as Stoke-on-Trent and Barton-under-Needwood. I quite regularly see Stoke and Barton listed in those "Top 10 places to live in the world" polls, so I suppose you might be onto something.

(In before "but... but... we've got nice green bits", because it's inconceivable to anyone from the North that a Londoner might venture the short trip to one of the many beautiful green bits that border our city.)
47% of London is green space.....

Having lived in the south east and having to venture into London for work etc for many years I am so epically glad to be in Norfolk/Suffolk it's not even funny.

Why people pay the ridiculous costs to live in London is beyond me. If you want to be surrounded by foreigners live in Paris! The roads are dreadful, it's noisy, there's people everywhere, it smells...I could go on.

Even places like Chelsea I consider a dump purely because they are so built up and rammed full of peole

You clearly don't like cities, so you aren't going to like London.

HTH.

Been out of London for ten years (village outside Saffron Walden) and have to say I love being back here in what was a pretty crap part of London a few years ago.

My wife can't believe it's actually quieter here than in the country and there's so much greenery.

Also she loves the fact Westfield is less than 15 minutes away. smile

Best city in the world.

You've obviously been traumatised by an event in your life that occurred in London. I specialise in addiction psychology. But, I believe that I can help you work through your issues with the city.

Just because you couldn't hack it in London, doesn't make you an utter deadbeat failure.

It's OK Joe. You CAN recover. yes

Is it really that hard to understand what's so appealing to London to those who live there? confused

It's has truly world class attractions, art collections, restaurants, parks and architecture. It's also one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world - it's said that you can eat a different cuisine every day for a year there and it's ranks highly on many countries' list of largest cities by population (I understand it's France's 3rd largest city by that measure).

For some people, that makes it worth the crowds and expense.

The issue with a Independent London is that most of the people who work there don't live there as it's too expensive.

The amount of people in social housing and benefits in London is huge, and at the other end of the spectrum is HUGE wealth, but all the jobs carried out by workers are done in the most part by people who live outside London. Just look at the people travelling in on the morning rush hour.

If London became independent whose going to do the work??? or are you going to issue visas?

On the subject of London, lets solve some housing issues, no social housing in London at all, if you want a free house or flat you don't get it in one of the most expensive cities in the world when there are plenty of empty house up north. (if your unemployed what does it matter where the free house is?)

Then all those house's could be lived in by people who work in London at sensible rents, also solving huge traffic and transport issues.

I thought that all the people who voted out were supposed to be the 'thick' ones...

Stockport voted to remain too, can they be independent? Maybe they could include manchester airport in their northern kingdom.

If it's that great, why aren't all the traffic jams on a Friday inbound?

This is what happens when a persons jeans are too tight and too short and their beard gets too long.. Silly, idiotic ideas are dreamed up while drinking overly milky coffe with odd names, this then gets taken seriously and it becomes 'news' spreading like wild fire across social channels.

Tomorrow they'll extract themselves from the mainland given their obvious superiority over the rest of the 'thickos' and plonk themselves squarely in the middle of the Atlantic.

Has Stockport got the economic viability to go it alone? I wouldn't have thought so, but I'm no expert on Stockport. Is it a world financial centre, does it attract millions of tourists. Could it survive as an independent state?

London could. Not so sure about Stockport but open to being put right.

I may be corrected on this and fair enough if so but I can't recall a single reply to my question relating to how much personal cash, how many £thousands, each Londexit dreamer is going to wager on there being a vote and London going independent. Even if I missed it feel free to remind me/us now many thou you're sticking on this bovine excreta. TIA.
