Why can't they have the same in Cambridge or Cheltenham or...
They can try if they want, although I guess not many people in those 2 cities would seriously think they had the financial ability to go it alone. But we do.

London should be made independent. Then they'd need a costly 'Berlin Airlift' style operation for food and essentials. They'd be eating each other and drinking their own piss by Wednesday.

Not much farmland within the M25...
How much farming is there in Monaco? Last time I was there, they didn't look like they were starving to death. Quite the opposite in fact, it looked pretty affluent.
Yeah, but this won't be Monaco. Sorry, you're fked. wink proper fked.
So how much farmland is there in Monaco?. How is the famine and drought in Monaco going? Those poor people.

Justgiving page anyone??

>draws air through teeth< Price just went up, gov'nor! Grand a tonne, toll fee, road use fee, etc
I'm sure that if you're trying to rip us off, someone else will agree to do it for £900. Then you might come back at £800. Eventually a free market will settle upon the right price.

We're dumping the UK, but we'll hang on to capitalism thanks.

I hate Russian dolls, they're so full of themselves.

Stockport voted to remain too, can they be independent?
Has Stockport got the economic viability to go it alone? I wouldn't have thought so, but I'm no expert on Stockport. Is it a world financial centre, does it attract millions of tourists. Could it survive as an independent state?

London could. Not so sure about Stockport but open to being put right.

Hey Twig, serious question. Is this a serious thing for you or are you just yanking the thread chain as you do.
It started as satire, but some of the vitriol has been very revealing. Amazing how people are happy to dump the EU, but when they think someone wants to dump them, they really can't hack it.

If an independent London were in the EU, it would be 15th out of 27 in terms of population, ahead of Denmark & Austria!

If London went independent, do you think there could be import tarriffs on things such as food, water, electricity? Or do they forget all this stuff comes from the rest of the world and maybe they should be less insular.
If an independent London was able to stay in the EU then there would be no import tariffs from EU countries. There could be when importing from the rest of Britain which would be outside the EU. But I'm sure a trade deal could be done. After all, that's what the Brexiteers have been telling us!

As stated before, does Monaco produce it's own food, water and power? I doubt it, yet they seem to be just about surviving!!!!!!

Have you been? It's not all sunshine and roses, some of it is a pretty stty place tbh.

I have and that's true. But there isn't famine, drought or constant power cuts. Well not that I saw. Somehow, they are managing to get food, water and power despite the lack of farms, reservoirs or power stations. I suspect they import them.

Without London, you lot would be scavenging for roots.
....and after you've served your sentence working in The City, many will want to retire to all that pleasant countryside, the rolling hills, streams and mountains full of fresh air. No doubt all that is readily available in London.

rolleyes
And why shouldn't we. We've paid for it's upkeep all these years! hehe

Oh, and for the record, here's a shot of London. As said, 47% is green space.
