Wasn't this the second referendum?

If you can have two referendums I don't see why a third is an issue.
It was the the third on the EEC/EZ/EU
Considering the age breakdowns of the remain and out camps another referendum down the line wouldn't seem that outrageous.

Yes, but you won't be allowed to without a lengthy visa application, now!
That's hardly a big issue though is it? Having lived/worked in many locations outside of the EU, Visa applications are no big deal. It's essentially just a one off admin process and assuming you meet the criteria is not in any way an obstacle.

But... but... but he said "now". I am going next week and it is described as a lengthy application... I am panicking...

Lock the doors, inform the markets, do something muttley...

A vote should have some finality to it. That's the bloody point. I think this referendum was too complicated an issue to put to the electorate and a bad call by Cameron ...
He had no choice.

I wonder how many 'leave' voters actually thought it might happen rather than just registering a protest aimed at showing we need further reform - we now need an "are you sure?" vote!

So you're saying our EU membership is in the Recycle Bin and they're trying to find the undelete option?

I am quite close to that. My underlying reason is I believe we can do better given the position 2 days ago. The EU would not flex to allow us to do so if we stayed in, so no point doing that.

At that point I did not care if a vote leave left us truly out, or in a better negotiation position. Both were better than sticking with it for me.

Someone on my Facebook shared the petition to have a rerun and I questioned would they sign the petition if the vote went in their favour (ie. remain), they replied "no because I would have got the result I wanted" and that they are only signing the petition as it's in favour of their views. Seems a democracy only works when the lefties get their way. Couldn't make it up (or could you?).

Trouble is, it'll probably be Paris and I'll stay working from home anyway biggrin

You could always look for another job - There will be loads of jobs now and you'll be paid double what you'd have got under the nasty EU - Oh, and you can leave your front door open and people won't steal stuff and we'll all tip our hat to each other on the way to work.

Yes, it's back to the 1930s! biggrin

I was complaining to a friend about people saying it was going to be another world war and like the 30's and 40's.

Then with a bit of thinking...

  • Europe ruled over by a powerful Germany.
  • Britain effectively one of the only "free" places in Europe
  • Norway in an kind of truce with both sides
  • The Swiss also being neutral...
wink

Norway was occupied, Britain liberated them. Norway sends us a Christmas tree each year as a thank you, which we put up in Trafalgar Square. Last year's tree was a bit scrawny so hopefully they'll be a bit more generous now.

Wow! They put that in place quickly. Could you send me a copy of the application document please?

Sorry, I was thinking about early on in the war. At the start it was neutral with an uneasy balance between the two sides.

I think you have a second vote by emigrating in this situation. Sad but true. If my head office went to Germany, what choice would I have? Sorry but my family comes first and economic security is number one. Sovereignty (which we already had) doesn't put food on the table
So what do you do that would necessitate a move to Germany, given today's electronic world?

It's Germany, what's the issue? It's a nice place, I used to live there.

There's an emergency eu summit this weekend or next week.

By bet is they will discuss terms to put to the UK to remain.

The deal will be put to the UK.

Then you will get your second referendum.

£50.00 says there won't be a second referendum.
You taking it?
