I'm not sure why people don't get it
Because people actually know what makes or brakes economies ? Unlike politicians who just like a good soundbite
My only question is, why do they all need name cards?

Or were they used as a seating plan (bet Boris sneaked in early and switched his)?

So we get all the benefits of EU membership but none of the negatives. For example we can trade with the EU without any movement of people or having to comply with EU regulation. Believe that when I see it.
To repeat - my opinion of what 'staying in by the back door' means would be a big concession from the EU (the sort of thing Cameron should have negotiated) in return for us staying. You won't believe it or see it as it has been ruled out.
So we don't know what out means but its a good thing anyway?

Mrs May said this today:

"We must be clear that we are going to make a success of it - that means no second referendum, no attempts to sort of stay in the EU by the back door. That we are actually going to deliver on it."

That seems pretty clear to me then. And she is the PM and people on here are not.
Making a success of leaving just means we will have achieved the aim and left.

We could invoke A50, discuss nothing with the EU, then walk out the door two years later. Success! We have left the EU as 52% of voters wanted.

What does no EU "by the back door" mean? We won't be part of any treaties with the EU?
Not being at all serious for a moment, but I suspect she's talking directly to PHers there, anything, absolutely anything "through the back door" means something painful and not that pleasant. Juncker has probably been sending tweets about VBRJ up the OXO tower and similar unpleasantries.

Am I missing something here? You asked what 'no EU by the back door' meant and I gave my opinion on what I think it means, not whether I think it's good or bad - we haven't got that far yet so nobody knows if it's good or bad....

We don't even need to wait 2 years under that scenario. We could invoke A50, leave tomorrow, and trade with the EU on the same terms as the US and China, if we wanted to.

She said pretty much the same thing when she became Prime Minister.

Her intentions are clear. What will happen is not. People often fail to achieve what they have promised for all sorts of reasons.

Yes she did. People often fail to realise the truth - particularly when they're embittered and petulant.

No one knows the outcome here. TM is a consumate pragmatist. The only two factors that she will be weighing up are the quality of the deal on the table from the EU and whether accepting the deal or not will make the Tories more or less electable in 2020. Nothing else will influence her behaviour or inform her decision making

And not just one, but two "I love cats" stickers. I wonder how the vote would break down between cat and dog owners? my gut feel is cats for Remain, dogs for Leave, but that might just be selection bias. I don't know many people who own cats or voted Remain. That is, as they say, normal for Norfolk.

Cats would be for Leave, they are independent thinkers who do what the hell they like.

Dogs are more inclined to do what the owner says, so would be more comfortable with an EU master.

Probably on its way to the MOT station, it passed its test today, has 64,506 miles on the clock and an oil leak.

It previously failed its MOT the day before the referendum vote for a rusty chassis leg, major leaking exhaust and a knackered CV joint. He had a crap couple of days. Inhaling the fumes cant have helped either. biggrin

Dogs have masters, cats have slaves. Draw your own conclusions.
