Quite. Gordon Brown didn't bother did he? You don't vote for a PM.

Plus I think the country has had enough voting and with the Scots/NI wanting more votes, we need some stability and just a passionate leader that can bring everybody together and get on with the EU negotiations.

And when John Major did likewise back in 1992, he won against the odds and against the polls, that's a surprise the pollsters and bookies getting it wrong wink

Yep. Labour might have an electable leader. smile
I reckon they stand a decent chance in 2020, seeing as the UK economy should be in a "challenging" state about then, with the Tories still in power.
I don't see how labour can choose a leader that is going to appeal to all those voters they lost in the north and the so called "latte luvvies"..... what the two groups believe in are so far apart it can only be achieved by making false promises to one side or the other.
Center left Blairite, fronting a remain in the EU campaign? Plenty of those around waiting in the wings, with the conservatives looking for a leader and a divided party, could be a great time for the Labour Party. Looks like British politics is finally about to have an exciting shake up.
There is opportunity for a strong opposition leader if the tories cannot unite around a new leader, but whoever gets the job has the same 3 key problems that are difficult to reconcile and which Corbyn has made little headway with; attracting the swing centrist voters as Blair did while motivating voters in traditional Labour heartland, with the additional challenge of reversing Labour's meltdown in Scotland. Without regaining some of those scottish constituencies it's difficult to see how Labour can win a majority. Campaigning any snap election on the Remain ticket loses them votes in Wales and the North and campaigning on Leave loses them votes in Scotland and London.

I think you're spot on. Labour are in shambles. Now is the time to capitalise on the mess the Tories are in - they are completely divided - but lo and behold, Labour are in a worse mess, Lib Dems are not even on the radar. It's a sad state of affairs for British politics. Imagine UKIP and the Tories doing a deal. Britain is becoming right-wing and I really don't like that direction. It's nasty and hateful and never achieves anything.
I vote Tory and I'm worried by the state of the Labour party. Democracy doesn't work properly if there's only one credible party - look at Scotland...
I didn't vote for either and I'm worried by it too.

Heading ever closer to an imminent election with both parties having "Remain in the EU"in their manifestos. Trumps the referendum.

True enough, we all have our own perspective.

Yep he is done now. I would say he should step down with dignity but I think he has missed the boat on that one! The time to step down gracefully was yesterday when he did his referendum post-mortem speech and all the rumours about the cabinet resigning were starting to gather momentum.

Having watched the VICE documentary on Corbyn a couple of months back I came to the conclusion he has a real arrogant, vain and stubborn streak in him. I think he will cling on for dear life now. This could blow apart the Labour party if it isn't resolved rapidly.

Shadow Cabinet? But no matter, I agree with you on the Corbyn front.

now I've read it (i just saw a pop up) - it appears the guardian are reading between the lines a bit, but they are probably on the money

Yet it's a pity to see this labour party blown apart, I was rather hoping they'd hang on in there at least until 2020. rofl

He might not go, he has the support of the unions and the members. Which is just great. Would love a leadership ballot with him on the paper and winning again. Comedy gold.
