It looks like the Labour leadership is about to collapse just like the Tories already have.

Who do you think is the best choice as new leader and who do you expect to win if different?

Not sure on his chances but I think Dan Jarvis would be a great choice; solid man of the people credentials, great real life experience, a Peace Keeping Para in Kosovo should give him a good insight into conflict resolution. He is IMHO both a potential election winner and has the credential to do a good job.

Milliband.

(no, no, let me speak: the other one)

D Milliband. Gets in to the Jo Cox seat. Sponsors an immediate leadership battle. Deposes Jezza. Calls a no-confidence in the Commons and carries enough disgruntled Tories fed up with PM Johnson to swing it. May 2017 general election on manifesto of Brexit referendum rerun.

Another one here who thinks Dan Jarvis would be a good choice, and this is from someone who is a lifelong conservative.

The way things are, I reckon Blair would be in with a shot if he wanted. Milliband is a good call, but I don't think either would want the job. Would you?

Personally I think they should unite behind Corbyn if they want to win. They're never getting the right, but the referendum has just shown huge swathes of the country who don't vote left/right.

Everyone's talking about how politicians don't listen to the prole any more... And they're trying to kill Comrade C the eurosceptic left winger who got voted in by a landslide of "normal" Labour voters and who the establishment can't stand.

Personally I quite like the idea of two party leaders who don't want the job and have a mountain to climb with knives in their backs.

Both parties seem to have a lack of Churchill's in this time of needing a strong firm guiding hand.

Hadn't heard much about him but seen on the TV a few time recently. If he can get support within Labour could make a good PM. The fact he is only one of seven MPs (that I could find!) to serve in Iraq and/or Afghanistan says something.

Is Gisela Stuart not quite popular at the minute although can she run for leadership or indeed want to?

Labour have a habit of picking unsuitable and unelectable leaders. A compromise candidate that satisfies all the major stakeholders except for the one that really matters - the electorate. Not since Blair have they had anyone who can actually win an election.

David Miliband is the man who I put money on yesterday at 12/1.

The odds at the bookmakers suggest it's a 50-50 contest now between Corbyn and Smith. And Eagle is a big outsider at around 15/1.

Had all the 3 pound voters been eligible to vote in this contest again Corbyn would win easily but now that the rules on who exactly can vote have been changed he my well lose this fight.

Smith certainly sounded more convincing than the Eagle today -

Aren't we supposed to be outraged that he's said he has children and that might make him suitable.

Or was that last week?

Well of the challengers so far Smith has to come across much better than Eagle from what I've seen of them, certainly the lesser of two evils as it were. In interviews she always seems to have a very narrow message and rare commits to saying anything of note at all, nothing about policy what so ever.

They (the PLP) will definately have to whittle the challengers down to one as I don't see how they can possibly get shot of Corbyn by splitting the vote.

Well he might get Jo Cox's seat but the rest even when posted was fanciful. Corbyn will be leader come the next election. Hope someone makes a note of this in case the highly unlikely happens and they can take the piss out of me and my predictions.

I think Corby will be at the next election as well.

However, Smiths wants Brexit vote part deux.
