Specsavers yourself. Perhaps they do blinkers too, for when your current set wear out.
Of course it's a significant difference. 55 to 60, you'd have a point. 50-odd to 80-odd, hardly.
Patience, the authorities are on the case - as inexcusable as it was last week but millions are unhappy with this seismic event.
Isn't the issue more that a very, very tiny minority of those who are happy with the result have taken it as implicit approval of their racist/xenophobic/islamaphobic views and are now feeling they can say what they like?

I agree with your comment.
I would add that I believe many more people are tribal rather than racist.
Tribalism can be found all over the World and is not confined to Caucasians.
That plus a fear of the loss of cultural identity.
When an indigenous community feels that immigrants,or indeed anyone that they do not consider a part of their tribe, are defining a change in the status quo it causes resentment and that resentment is amplified in times of economic problems.

Guy at work saw three guys shouting at some Eastern Europeans (paraphrasing) "We thought we voted for you to fk off" - this was in Tooting. Anecdotal, of course.

I have no idea, as I said it was an anecdotal thing from work today.

And the professionally offended yet unaffected run about shouting 'Racist !'
Very well put by the way.

Tribalism is one of the basic human drives. It just depends on the form it takes whether the behaviour that results is positive or not.

Its all about degrees of acceptance or rejection. No-one has been thrown from a rooftop, or burned with a magnifying glass, or attacked with a giant salami.
Whats next ? We send plod round for 'looking at someone the wrong way' ?
Perhaps if all else fails we will see APC's touring the estates blasting out, Dalek-like....YOU WILL ACCEPT AND INTEGRATE !!!! INTEGRATE ! INTEGRATE !

Yep. Guy at work said his sister lives in a small village of less than 200. An elderly Scottish woman was asked to leave post Brexit by some of the villagers. Disgraceful.

Brexit seems to have brought this type of pond life to the surface.

And we have people on here who want to sweep it under the carpet as insignificant or overreaction by the media. Interestingly they don't see that when the press is full of Islamophobia. That of course is factual and accurately represented.

A brave and worthy stance. Then when the 3 6ft brickies turn their abusive attentions on you, and you're on your own, I hope that you're handy. I've been there and I'm nobody's fool but 3 blokes of any size looking for someone who needs a kicking are not to be taken lightly.

What an odd post. Those morons on the bus were shouting abuse at the guy because he looked foreign. It turns out that abused guy was born here, and spent 7 years in the military. How more integrated can you get?

Tribalisim and racism are 2 sides of the same coin. It's the defence of "us" ness and attacking "other" ness. People have been resentful of and fighting against people from the other side of the hill since people started living on opposite sides of hills. It's innate. We support our tribe and feel threatened by competing tribes. West Side Story.

I once got attacked as a kid because I lived in one village and went to school in the next. Similar schools, but a couple of kids were out looking for bother and found me. Fortunately I was on my bike and once I'd established they weren't just out for a friendly chat I took off. A similar thing happened to the lad a couple of doors down around the same time.

i know what you are saying and i have been unfortunate enough to end up in that situation, but a kicking shared is better than one poor sod getting it all on his own. not so much handy as able to absorb a lot of blows smile i have also seen people come to their senses when someone they didn't expect to say anything challenges their prejudice and makes them realise how stupid they look.

He was born in Texas and served in the US army, not that that makes any difference.

Normal market forces have not been allowed to take effect with uncontrolled immigration and an oversized welfare state.
What happens round here (we don't get as much immigration relative to other areas) isn't that wages are put up to attract workers, but simply that the businesses are forced to down size then close down.

They are competing against factories in eastern Europe, they can't afford to increase wages because the competition have too many advantages anyway.
