Surely he has to go, now. Overnight?
I don't always agree with James O'Brien on LBC but he called it right earlier. You must either assume JC had the skill to pick the absolute best shadow cabinet he could, and so that cabinet has exercised good judgement in calling for his resignation, OR he appointed a cabinet composed entirely of absolutely terrible politicians who are now exercising poor judgement in resigning.
Either way it doesn't reflect well on JC.
ETA: Kate Green has quit, for a (running) total of 37 frontbenchers.

I regard myself as reasonably informed politically and looking at Corbyn's appointments today, I don't think I have heard of any of them. Assuming there will be a general election later this year I really think Labour are going to struggle to offer a credible alternative to the Tories even if they ditch Corbyn and get soneone else in.

Yes. And this is exactly the quandary labour find themslves in. They can ALL walk out in Westminster, but if the members vote to keep him in place, he stays in place! If Labour have a leadership vote, and Corbyn stands as a candidate, can all the people who invested £3 last time to get a vote, vote him back in again this time?

Labour potentially have a party split across it's members and MPs, to such an extent that could end up with a leader and no shadow cabinet, I've never seen the like!
Of course, the only reason Corbyn is even there is because the last time the MPs only gave him the 35(50?) MPs he needed for adding to the leadership race out of pity, as a bit of a 'let's show how nice we can be to the class retard' type manner.
Unfortunately, as the incumbent, he no longer needs a single MP to nominate him for the leadership race, he's there by default unless he resigns.

Yup, hence all the pressure to get him to stand aside from the leadership election, they all know he'll win again. If I was Jezza I'd stand again and put all those who resigned up for deselection at the imminent general election. Would be worth it just for Labour to have a good clear out of the Blairites, they can all move over to the Lib Dems. But seriously, if he deselected enough of the loudest opponents then the rest would come back in line, most of them are career politicians and won't want to risk losing their meal ticket.

He'd walk another election. All the people that voted for him before will be furious. He's in a very tricky position as he has an immense mandate from the party. But if he stays, the next step is MPs resigning from the party, which then leads to a new party if he hangs on to the next election. Fascinating.
To be fair to him, as much as I think he's a d
head, you can't blame him for the way he campaigned. Other than to say he should have stuck further to his principles and not given a sop to the PLP. He was clearly in favour of leaving, he clearly did vote to leave and he's clearly far more in touch with Labour voters and party members than the PLP.As I say, fascinating.

Yes, there are thousands of them. There was a petition doing the rounds on twitter that got 150k+ signatures to save Jeremy. This is the issue the PLP have and it is also the reason their mass resignation is taking place - they want to bully him into stepping down because they know if they challenge him directly he will stand for leader again (and it is thought likely to be his legal right to do this) and win. Internal Labour polls were showing he still has the backing of about 60% of Labour party members. Hence this is utter madness from the PLP. They are just further destroying the Labour party with no realistic plan to put it back together again.
