Besides which they'd never get planning permission for the 'jungle' in the UK - simply because of the lack of provision for parking push bikes at each domicile.

The open sewers and human trafficking rate lower than 'eco' measures so until they sort that out, it's unlikely to proceed...

I'm pretty sure those occupying the Jungle in Calais are not merely wanting to come to the UK to create a new Jungle in Kent.

On arrival they'll disappear into urban areas for a life in the Black Economy.
And as the UK's economy falls into perpetual turmoil, the black economy will be the only way to get your roof fixed, your car mended, or your boiler repaired.

So let me get this straight. You are proposing using boats to invade French territory to drop off irregular immigrants??

That's actually quite amusing in a sort of "surly no one would suggest any this so stupid" sort of way.
Stranger things happen within the EU.

ETA: can't be that stupid as we already do it at airports.

I think you miss the point. I assume the idea of the French police stopping patrols of the fences around Eurotunnel and the ferries mean more irregular immigration.

You do not get (much) irregular immigration at airports.

And yet is seems that you see no problem with the French doing just that the other way round?
If the French turned up in Dover with boatloads of migrants, why should the UK government accept them, any more than the French would accept them being shipped over in boat loads from camps in the UK?
I did not say that.

I think you miss the point. I assumed the idea of the French police stopping patrols of the fences around Eurotunnel and the ferries means more irregular immigration.

So this relates to irregular immigrants who have concealed themselves in lorries/car travelling on eurotunnel or regular ferries.

No probs. Boats can take many more people than the equivalent sized aircraft.

There have always been boarder controls before, and during our membership of the EU. there will still be boarder controls after it.
I've never noticed boarder controls in France - they sit on their arses on the piste getting in the way of respectable skiers. smile
