I'm going to Cromer in a couple of weeks so can anyone recommend some activities for us. There's a few adults and 3 kids and we naturally want to keep the kids entertained.

I understand there is a steam railway there but anytrhing else anyone can recommend?

thanks

The steam railway is a bit further up the coast at Sheringham.

In Cromer there is the end of the pier show, which supposedly is the last of its kind in the UK (whatever that means). You used to be able to go round the lifeboat house at the end of the pier; not sure if you still can. There is also a small museum.

Current lifeboat station at the end of the pier was still open, old station is now Henry Blogg museum (RNLI).

If you're willing to drive a few miles out of Cromer:

There's full gauge (North Norfolk, Sheringham to Holt) and narrow gauge (Bure Valley, Aylsham to Wroxham, you can then spend time on the broads from Wroxham). Byfords in Holt does good food.

Bewilderwood at Hoveton.

Sheringham Park - National Trust park and woodlands.

Amazona Zoo in Cromer.

Train from Cromer into Norwich for the day.

If the weather's rubbish then there's Stick Earth cafe, kids can paint a pot/mug/plate while the adults have a brew.

Blakeney small harbour is wonderfull for children and adults .take your crabbing lines and a bucket and everyone will be happy for hours. Plenty of places to eat and drink there and some good walks also.

Holkam hall beach is just massive and a great way to pass a nice day there.

Wells next the sea has all the seaside stuff kids love also.

And Wells has two great pubs on the green at the top of the town and then The Victoria a mile or so down the road at Holkham.

However, they are all a bit far with kids or if you want a pint.

Maybe book Wells instead next time? biggrin

When I visited Cromer as a Kid (40ish years ago) we picked strawberries at a local farm in the mornings and spent the money we made in the afternoons. We loved it.

Also, if you do get over to Wells/Holkham/Burnham then The Vic is always a great place to grab a beer and a bite.

My brother is the Head Chef there. I think he posts on here occasionally.

Plus The Crown at Wells is always nice...

Ignore the website, it is a really cosy pub, pic took showing a mate to hurry up.....

I'm not sure if it's any good or not but we passed Davenport's Magic Kingdom on a trip up that way recently. Could be entertaining for the kids.
