This was my first thought of; why France? Why Paris? It would be the last place to relocate to, simply to stay within the EU.
Quite, you'd move to Bratislava or Prague. Sadly all the central service teams have already set up there though so costs would be far higher than originally expected.

Looks like Brexit is one way of getting rid of those nasty millionaire bankers .
The French & Germans can't believe their luck, getting their own back after we lured these highly skilled / highly paid jobs to London ..
How many times do they have to threaten with this. For once I'd like the response to be you won't do business in this country on a level playing field with those that stay. Make them pay for moving jobs away. If are we doing this brexit thing surely we need to protect jobs.

They are not threatening anything - just planning for different Brexit outcomes, just as any sensible multinational business would.

.....and the EU is taking legal action against 6 of its members and the UK because they didn't take legal action against VW over the emissions 'scandal'.

Never mind that current legal action has already cost 10s of thousands of jobs. Got to stick to the EU rules.

Certifiable, the lot of them.

Well no, we can already predict the outcome. 6 members = all fine, carry on. UK = give us lots of money.

Anyone hoping that the EU have us over the barrel is deluded. This is one of the cards has to negotiate with, does the EU really want an English speaking, fifth large economy acting at a tax haven 20 miles off its coast.

Maybe we could employ Juncker after he's fired, he has experience on ignoring the rules and setting up a large scale tax haven.

Tax Haven status as a potential post Brexit advantage?

I thought the Leave vote was to get rid of the establishment and make the less well off relevant again.

If the UK wants to become one isn't the point, the point is the EU doesn't want the UK to become one.

That could be an interesting response in the event of the EU playing hardball, work towards making the UK a tax haven of sorts and hoover up all the taxes made on European profits, or as much of it as possible anyway. Especially as the EU is currently, slowly but surely, pushing for reforms that harmonize tax rates across the EU.

My leave vote was about Sovereignty - I don't want the UK ending up as part of a Federal state of Europe. Everything else was secondary.

Of course it is...and it's what many of us have been saying. There are plenty of cards that the UK has to play if the EU want to be a pain in the arse.
