Thomas Cook flight seems to be landing as planned at Dalaman (origin Stanstead).

If it were me on that flight I might want them to divert to Cyprus!

There is a Gatwick flight behind it.
Suddenly my decision to choose Benidorm over Turkey seems like a better decision that it looked originally.

US Sec of State John Kerry "I hope there will be stability and continuity within Turkey" - US Secretary of State reacts to developing situation."

That sounds like the US were given notice, so at the very least the US if not supporting it then they are prepared to let it continue....

And this is the country that CMD wanted to join the EU?

I'm so glad I voted with the winning side on the 23rd of last month!
Oh yes,i the Brexit liars said Turkey were about to join the EU. Glad I voted for the right side ( who we all know will actually win in the end )
'Dave' was Turkey's head cheer leader for them getting in. He said as much and they believed him. Perfectly reasonable to take him at his word.

He then changed his mind because it suited his political purposes.
72,000,000 doctors and engineers onto the Schengen register OH YEAH!!

Seems a bit of a stretch to hold a Coup in the name of Democracy .

I'm not sure that people are getting yet how big this potentially is. Turkey is a big country that is, or was, on the cusp of becoming a mature democracy. Erdogan was a step away from that, and military coups are like a step back by a couple of decades.

It's like five years' of news has happened in the last week.

Company ops can easily pass messages. Company ops have direct lines to the right people in govt.
I suspect this is because we have advised them to continue - perhaps a mistake if it kicks off.

I wonder if there is a QRF on the way to a rather well known northern Turkish bit of rock.. we have "stuff" up there.. maybe they already did it if we knew before..
